Just for fun:
Time travel to the 70's... STM is made-
It's a big success... there's an argument that results in Donner being let go.
Lester waves his hand and says he has no problem taking full credit and taking over the franchise and give him the money.
Kevin Feige is a head of WB and says to offer the Salkinds an offer they can't refuse to take over.
Kevin waves his hand to Lester 'buh-bye' and tells him his services are no longer needed.
Feige rehires Donner, makes a deal with the Brando estate.... Brando asks for even more money, but Feige tells Brando that he has no problem replacing him with Mark Ruffalo. Brando accepts the lower pay.
Donner/Mank complete Supes II- And the result is that it makes more money than Raiders of the Lost Ark and more.
Feige helps fasttrack Batman with Tim Burton using Manks' script. (Joker doesn't kill Batman's parents)
Mank writes/directs Superman III - another hit. Not sure if Lana Lang comes into the picture, Brainiac as Green guy- but the story bends more towards adult fare and Helen Slater as Supergirl introduced.
Batman meets or versus Superman- Feige produces. It's another big hit.
Supergirl spinoff, with a tease to introduce the Legion of Superheroes
Superman franchise starts to also be more like Brave and the Bold- not just introduce villains but other heroes and characters. Kent meets Barry Allen. Green Lantern gets an origin built into the Superman franchise.
Flash movie happens.
All building up to the Justice League movie with Darkseid.
If only...

Well he’d certainly let Donner do whatever he wanted. He’d just make sure they had a plan of some kind mapped out. Feige’s even talked about walking out of the the theater and thinking about what he’d do after Superman IV. Even then he was thinking ahead. Not sure what he’d do with it all beyond Superman. I think he’d let Superman inform everything else the way they did with Iron Man.

Feige has such an overall fantastic track record, I'd love to read if he had elaborate thoughts on how he would have handled Supes if he had a chance... but.... he's probably holding onto those ideas for the future- makes sense! (On a similar/separate note, I had a chance to ask the screenwriter of T2 what he and Cameron would have done for T3 but wouldn't share it- probably for the same reason- if in Hollywood, they wouldn't want to give the ideas away for free...)
