I am no longer taking requests for DVDs. Those of you who have already asked and have not yet received a DVD will still get one. Anyone else, please download the movie or ask for a copy from someone else.

I finally got mine and it is spectacular. First, a BIG THANKS to Jim and Maverick for sending this out! It was awesome watching this movie! The closest approximation of Reeve's original vision for the film that we'll probably ever see. And having been done by a fan, as opposed to a someone looking to bootleg it for cash, the subtle but extra effort spent on editing, restoring, and all of the other flourishes really shows. I had no idea that Jim had such mad video editing skills. I think this effort is even superior to the SIIRIC, which I loved. But Jim really went the extra mile here with the comic book panels, subtitles, and video/audio cleanup. I honestly don't see myself watching the original SIV again. This is the definitive version hands down. I think even Reeve would be impressed that someone put this much time and care into trying to realize the film as it was meant to be. Awesome work here guys and this DVD is going to be in my player for a while as I marvel at the Jim's handywork!

Thanks for the kind words, I'm glad you liked it.
There wasn't really any video cleanup. What you see is exactly what came from the deleted scenes. The only thing I replaced was some of the Tornado/Moscow stuff. The DVD deleted scenes had some very rough visual effects shots while the Japanese laserdisc had those parts completed. I just swapped out the offending footage.
I really see no need in watching the theatrical version either. It's too hacked up to enjoy. In its extended form, it's now enjoyable just to hear the complete score.

Just got done watching it and I must say that was DAMN GOOD! The movie itself is still a bit of a mess (FX wise) but to watch this movie and everything actually making sense was great!
Jimbo you did a damn good job putting this together and I applaud you! It's great hearing the full score for this movie. You need to do editing professionally cause this was great!
Like Supes78 said, Reeve would be damn proud to see his whole vision and the message put together the way it was meant to be.

This edit is a must-have for any Superman diehard like us, and Jimbo deserves great credit for putting it all together. One can only imagine the labor of love dissecting and reconstruction of SIV's abhorrent quality must have been.
Having not watched the film proper in a long time, I was struck most by how BAD it was. Honestly, how they thought they could pass this off as a professional production is beyond me.
The performances of Reeve and Hackman are top notch though. It's hard to believe they cut so many of Lex's scenes, as his character is one of the few highlights of the so called film. I only wish he'd been bald in the prison scene though. As for Reeve, he never looked better as Clark but his Superman is not what it once was. The physique, the costume, and the hairstyle are all not up to standard. Regardless, he still nails the character like no other.
A particular laugh-out-loud moment for me was in the double date scene. Lois tells Clark to notice Lacy's dress, so he comments, "Oh...neat dress," before running out to change into Superman. Then when Superman arrives he says to Lacy, "That's a very attractive outfit you're wearing." Hahaha.
As bad as the film is, I would still love to see an official extended/restored cut. This experimental edit shows that at the very least the story can benefit from being presented as originally intended.

I got mine last night! Special thanks to Kirok for mailing me a copy and saving Jimbo a couple of bucks. I have to say I'm quite impressed. I've only seen half the movie, but it flows much better than the poor excuse of a Superman film that Cannon put out.

One can only imagine the labor of love dissecting and reconstruction of SIV's abhorrent quality must have been. Labor, yes. Love, no. To be blunt, "I did it for the lulz." Rewatch anything that takes place in space. The visible bluescreen auras around everything is hilarious. When Superman chucks the missile with the NM2 box attached to the side, check out the bluescreen cutout of the box, and how they screwed the pooch there. I'll be honest, I found that pretty funny too. It's one of the few moments in the sequels where you see that Clark is intentionally dorky, and Superman is THE MAN. If my cut can improve the movie even by a small degree, then an official complete rerelease will improve the movie even more.

Jimbo you did a damn good job putting this together and I applaud you! It's great hearing the full score for this movie. You need to do editing professionally cause this was great! Thanks, Keith! It was like a jigsaw puzzle, though. The pieces were all jumbled, and just needed to be rearranged in the right spots. The only reason I even tried this was because the complete score was available. Utilizing that made a lot of edits seamless, I feel. I don't know about that. I don't think his negativity to the movie was solely based on the editing. I'm sure the cost cutting of Cannon did most of that.

Wow, I have been away a long time! (Why? real life sucks...that is all I will say) I am surprised to see it done. As a early supporter of this cut I would LOVE a DVD of it. I don't have a DVD burner and I see no new copies are being made...

I finally got round to burning it to disk and just had a quick flick through here at work and it looks "good". I got some time off next week, so I'll check it all out then.
Nice one Jim! I lost my copy of Supes IV (SE) ages ago and now I don't need to bother to buy another copy. Probably wouldn't anyway now I have the soundtrack

I haven't put one up, nor do I work with torrents. There's at least a solid dozen copies out there. Perhaps someone can put it up on torrent.

I finally got around to checking out this cut. First off, forgive me if I'm saying things that have already been said, as I haven't had the chance to read any of the previous reviews. Jimbos Fan Cut of Superman IV is quite simply THE most essential Superman fan cut ever made. Simply put, whenever you feel the need to force yourself to watch the awfulness that is SIV, you should at least do yourself the favor of watching the only coherent version in existence. Up front let me say that SIV is a terrible, terrible movie, & even after this cut, its still terrible. But, that said, its MUCH ,more watchable this way. The editing of this cut is, in a word, Flawless. All cuts, are smooth & without a hint of jarring. The deleted scenes, while for the most part even worse than what did make the theatrical cut, still round the story out in a way that at least make the story feel complete. I have only seen the deleted scenes one time, so, it all seemed really fresh to me. I had forgotten abut most of them. I REALLY love the added scenes of Lex in court for war crimes & his subsequent release. These are arguably Hackman's best scenes in the movie. How a studio could pay the high price that comes along with Hackman & then leave his best work on the cutting room floor, is beyond me. The nightmare sequence that Jimbo constructed from thin air, is down right fucking AWESOME. It fascinating to see the Metro club scene cut together with music using the comic book pages. Its remarkable just how well that works. Jimbo really pulled an ace with that bit. I am still amazed at the job Jimbo did replacing that stupid temp music in the NM1 street battle scenes. Simply put, marvelous. Its also VERY helpful seeing all the deleted scenes that lead up to the Street Battle showdown between Supes & NM2. It actually makes sense now. But lets not kid ourselves. The real star here is the way that Jimbo showcased the incredible complete score to Superman IV. This cut is a much deserved love letter to the Late, Great Alexander Courage. I wish he were alive to see this. The music here in its uncut, & unperverted glory, finally gets to breathe the way it was intended to. Theres so much here to love, from a movie that has so much to hate. & THAT is the greatest compliment I can give this cut. It will be traded among fans at conventions for generations to come. It is THE most important Superman movie fan cut ever made. PERIOD. Well done laddie, well done.

Sounds great! Can't wait to get mine! Jimbo, will we have these on this side of the Atlantic before X-Mas? My bro would also love to see it as growing up he was a big S fan and still is a little! I've never watched many of the deleted scenes so this will be great to see!

I watched it the other night. Took a while to download, but it was worth it. Great edit. Although I feel the NM1 scenes were awful and are deservedly left out in the final cut, their inclusion here and the gap bridging with comic book panels and restored score really make watching S4 a fresh experience. Cheers.

Thanks, you two. NM1 was pretty hokey, but with proper cleanup and new SFX, it might seem better. I really liked Courage's score for the Metro Club fight. It's the Nuclear Man theme we all know, only with a comical flare. The NM theme also doesn't come into full force. Since the Nuclear Man is not complete, not quite there, we have a musical rendition of the theme in the same style.
Yo EvilSupes. Good to see you back.
