A few days ago out of the blue I got an e-mail from Alex's board saying I had a private message. It was from ckent saying he has completed his own Extended Cut of Superman IV. He's already sent out a copy to me... I have no idea what to expect when it arrives. He has always been very Anti-Superman Returns. While I am a big fan of it. Other than that I have no real knowledge of him. Has he done previous fan cuts? Did he e-mail anyone else about this? Not that this should effect your effort Jim. Just thought I give you all a heads up!

If ckent really is Drew, then I seriously don't understand what's going on.
Drew was very very very very very anti-fan cuts.

Do mean Drew Reiber?... I think his name was something like that...
He was very insistent before the DVD release that the cut scenes would be even worse then what was in the theatrical cut. So I doubt he would want to be involved in a extended cut.

Ckent mentioned to me he was Drew before, well, you know. I really have no idea what's going on over there, I really don't want to know.
I'd like to see his cut, though

You're right, though. Drew has always been anti-fan-cuts. I don't know what on Earth is going on at that other place. One thing is certain, they're trying to bribe members by giving them free gifts.

This is very strange. ckent made the offer in reply to a very old private message I had sent to him. It was so long ago I don't remember when I wrote it. In which I was supportive of an extended cut of Superman IV which he proposed. Which was the exact opposite of Drew's opinion!!! In fact Drew and I got in a long debate over whether at the minimum the cut footage would make the story more clear. Even if it would not make it a better movie. Drew would not even concede that!!! Of course this was right before the DVD release. I guess its possible he changed his mind after he actually saw the deleted scenes. But he was so passionate in his hatred of Superman IV I would be shocked if he had a total reversal of opinion!!!!

Hm, well, tell us how it is.
Let me know if it addresses the metro club scene and completed effects for the tornado and Kremlin scenes.

He sent it out on Monday. I imagine I will get it by the end of the week. I will definitely share the details of his cut. If he is Drew I will know from the return address!

Didn't Alex like Superman Returns??? Or is that just part of his ckent act? It would make a certain amount of sense for it to be Alex. Alex and Jim had been involved in doing a cut of the film. But from what Jim has said Alex never did much work on it.

They were planning on doing a fan-cut together, but we all know what actually happened.

Right. So for Alex to be ckent he would have needed to be working on it for a while. This is not the type of thing that can be done in a short period. Unless Alex was doing it alone in secret this whole time....

Alex kept remaking the same clip over and over of Superman flying at camera in space. He recolored it very nicely. Then he went to Oregon.

Dude, don't knock Alex for that. That's roughly 85% of the effects that he cleaned up.

Someone uploaded a Superman IV extended cut on one of the usenet sites recently.
Here is the description that was with it:
"This is a fan cut which restores Superman IV: The Quest for Peace to something approximating it's 134 minute original runtime, using scenes from the workprint and trailer. Footage has been organized to follow the original script, and score has been added when necessary."
I'm downloading the NZB now as we speak and I'll let you know whether it is legit.

Okay all it is, is Superman IV with the deleted scenes placed back into the movie. However they are straight off the deleted scenes section on the Deluxe edtion DVD and contain no modifications. So, already you can get an idea what this looks like with the rest of the movie. It also contains some extras, like the metroclub comic book strip in the form of jpegs and also the original Superman IV script as well as stills from scenes that weren't available.
I have a feeling someone from superman cinema did this, because in the readme he/she thanks them, but no name is given.

Ah dang it, it stole my idea about the Metro Club.
Oh well, I guess it's really the ONLY way to tell that part of the story. I'm gonna need voice actors to spruce it up. ;D

The person didn't use the comic strip for the metroclub, but they did include it as extras along with the cut.
I find it weird how the person didn't give their name.

Ok, I just got the DVD today. So far I just put it in my player to make sure it plays. It has a menu with the poster art. It has a play all option and a notice to view bonus features on a DVD ROm player. But the DVD-ROm player on my computer has been broken for a few years. But I will be able to view the movie itself fine.
Who sent it?
Its from G. Rivera in New York City.

New York City.
Drew lives in Cali.
Anyhoo, it's best we just drop it. Gandy is currently working on unifying the boards. If there's anyone who can bring peace and settle our issues it's him.

Avilos/EvilSupes, let me know how the deleted scenes are.
- Does it have the completed effects for the tornado and Russian scenes?
- For the Nuclear Man 1 scenes, is the temp music deleted or muted? If so, then how does the dialogue sound?
