I think it worked for the particular story they were telling but I thought a lot more of the old style humor and style was added back into the series compared to QOS and even CR. I think the problem was that the entire Craig run was pretty bleak. At the same time I think it was a reaction and course correction to how silly and hollow the Brosnan films got. At times it was too much of an over correction but it needed to happen after DAD. I didn’t care for another story where Bond was rogue or on the run yet again and Silva was somewhat derivative but I thought there were some spectacular action sequences. To me it felt more like a bond film than CR even though CR was the better film. Like a lot of modern franchises any good will generated by Skyfall was squandered with its follow ups. Has Daniel Craig's Bond ever NOT resigned or gone rogue in a movie? I think it’s happened to some degree on every film after CR. But then its a thing with a lot of spy films these days. The Mission: Impossible films are even worse about it and it drives me nuts. Ethan Hunt and his team have either gone rogue or been disavowed in every movie. It’s just a cheap way to increase the tension. Even DAD did it with Bond before Craig so we’ve been regularly seeing it done with Bond for 20 years.

I thought it worked well the first time, in LTK. Back then, it was novel and shocking. These days, it's novel and shocking if Bond doesn't go rogue

Do it once or every once in a while and it can be special but do it all the time and it gets pretty stale. Much like an evil Superman. I just wanted to see Craig’s Bond on a standard mission. He also retired at the end of Spectre.

Metallo and ATP The best part about the Craig series......... This scene where Battista kicks Craig's butt: Most of what came before......and definitely all that came after......is forgettable IMHO!

Yeah. I really enjoyed that fight scene. It was pretty brutal. I was excited that Bautista was cast as a heavy. Beyond that I felt they wasted Big Dave in the movie.
