Again-I personally should not comment because I have still not seen Snyder's version.
Having said that, if I am being truly conspiratorial.......it would not surprise me if the WB brass realized that they could create a "double dip" scenario for a movie that was definitely not worthy of one!
When Snyder was fired, they were aware that all the components were in place for him to come back at some point in the not too distant future and complete post production.
So, at the time of the theatrical release(or shortly after) they deliberately planted subliminal info(I mean leaked!) into the public domain infering that a hypothetical Snyder version was "out there".
That was enough bait to allow genuine Snyder acolytes to fall for the gag....... hook, line and sinker.
And to give the frenzied interest an air of legitimacy ,"they" created some bots to accentuate the size of the "release the Snyder Cut" movement.
The reality could be that genuine interest among fans(even amongst the Snyderites) was lukewarm at best.......providing another reason for the bots to step in and compensate.
Fact is that a mediocre film(the theatrical) has made more money through what is essentially a re-release........ courtesy of the Snyder cut. I admit I can't back up my hypothesis.......but one thing's for sure.......I won't be adding Snyder's version to my UHD/Bluray collection after this news!!!!!!
Already wasted 20 odd bucks for the crap theatrical UHD back in 2018(which I personally think was mastered quite poorly BTW!).
So WB won't be scamming another 20 bucks out of me for the "SnyderBot Cut" now!

The implication in the article is Snyder may have been paying for bots himself or someone involved with him and the campaign did. The one who benefitted more from the Snyder cut is Zack Snyder. This is all part of a PR war between Snyder and WB but it doesn’t mean what WB is saying isn’t true. WB saw an opportunity to have something to draw in new subscribers for their streaming service so that’s why the made the deal to finish the Snyder cut. WB had to know making money on such a massive investment was a tough job so I doubt they orchestrated the whole thing. At one point they did work together on the whole campaign with coordinated efforts but that’s after they’d already made the deal and after the “release the Snyder cut” campaign started online. The rumor is WB may have lost money on the Snyder cut in the short term because they invested at least $70 million to finish it. Streaming isn’t going to immediately going to bring in that kind of money and physical media sales are at an all time low.

This just hot off the press:
More B.S from the "botted up" media.
A stone resonates more with me than Cavill's interpretation of Clark Kent.

There were several high profile ones. Maybe it was Snyder or maybe his fans pooled their money. Maybe they were in on it with WB by a certain point. Problem is he mislead people as far as what a “cut” was and his hardcore supporters attacked people and were saying it was a fully finished film. It wasn’t.

A lot of people liked Cavill but it wasn’t as many as some would have you believe. A lot of online fans like him but it seems like the majority of the general audience who doesn’t follow this stuff very closely is indifferent to his Superman.

Another potential conspiracy popped into my mind.
If Snyder's JL is tanking in streaming revenue.........
Applying the law of "bad publicity" attracting attention....could this be a somewhat twisted attempt by everyone involved(WB,Snyder et al) to generate said revenue.
I do find it strange that for all the friction between the independent parties involved......they still collectively put out a well marketed final product.

Going through the original article some more it paints Snyder in a very questionable light. A lot of the bad blood there seems to be real and the bad feelings run very deep. I think they worked together because they could both benefit but behind the scenes that working relationship got pretty rough yet again. WB probably just wanted to make their money back and launch their new service so they made another deal with the devil. In Snyder’s mind I’m sure he saw it that way too. I’m interested to see if any litigation comes from this from any side. Probably not since some people already have enough bad press and don’t need more with even more bad behavior coming to light. Others want to continue to have some kind of career and not completely burn their bridges. The Snyder/WB problems are making the Donner/Salkind issues look tame in comparison. Some of the online tactics by Snyder fans are abhorrent. The DCEU has resulted in a few destroyed careers.

All that is pretty... wacky.
I'm glad to see the 4 hour Snyder cut- but I didn't pay the $70 million to finance it. It's a giant fan film, but part of me likes pretentious disasters if it's good eye candy and has something for me to enjoy.
Hollywood hardly feels like it's overflowing with saints. With the extremes of horrific behavior, I think it has to be looked at with a sliding scale of 'how evil is this'? We know of truly monstrous behavior where people were harmed and other cases where studios get duped or creative powers get hijacked unfairly....
If this is true- then part of me is kind of laughing at the studio for being so hoodwinked and not using their better judgement. But this is a studio that greenlit "Catwoman" that was a trainwreck.
I just think it's a pity that the $70 million didn't go to restoring the Donner cut....

WB aren’t saints but bad behavior doesn’t excuse other bad behavior. WB’s biggest mistake was hiring Snyder in the first place but desperation and not knowing what to do got the better of them. The problem is Snyder’s behavior and bad decisions will affect things for years and we fans are the ones who are suffering for. Superman’s been done a lot of damage under Snyder. I’d argue more than under any other filmmaker because he divided the audience and hurt the brand so badly that who knows when we will see another film.

Were the MoS bullies in 2013 also bots? 🤔
They really didn't behave like real, thinking humans.
Either they were bots, or merely NPCs

I'm not excusing Snyder- you all know I was heartbroken when Singer I felt came to the rescue by trying to reinstate classic Donnerverse and expand it, then was cut off by WB for a sequel... But I feel like WB has been so much its own enemy despite owning just as much (if not more) superhero ip--- that they could have had their own MCU for DECADES before Marvel Studio came along to embarrass them. When the Reeve Superman films came, they could have supported it properly, then didn't. Then things went into circles for years- and it only seemed almost by accident that Burton's Batman happened! And did other superhero projects happen? NOPE. Even the Batman franchise was a bit of a mess- Then things went into circles again. WB wasn't alone in self-sabotage. Look at Sony and how they ruined Raimi's Spiderman franchise that he himself was passionate about. So.... It's not that I'm excusing Snyder. It's just that if Snyder tainted the ip for one decade, then WB has been ruining the ip for more than that even before, way back when they greenlit Lester and Pryor for Superman III and the years of development heck after SR.

You’re not wrong. They both share a lot of blame. Snyders thrown gas on the fire though. This wouldn’t have gotten as bad as it did if he’d done his job instead of thumbing his nose at the studio that gave him the opportunity in the first place. WB as usual was stupid enough to hire him and didn’t have a clue what they were doing.

The author of the article for Rolling Stone has given an interview pretty much reinforcing everything she wrote: www.theringer.com/2022/7/20/23271949/release-the-snyder-articleThat Times Square advert....... .........the benfactor has remained anonymous! Even if fans pooled their relatively limited financial resources , there is no way they could spend $50000 a day to keep that ad running! The people behind this had big money.....and both Snyder and WB are not short of the odd schekel!

I want to do something similar for the Donner Cut to be redone heck yeah! I would wager that the $50000 a day that was needed to run that Ad in Times Square to release the Snyder Cut......is far more than the money that was allocated in total , to the entire Donner Cut Project!

It wasn’t that long so that made it pretty easy. Wow. Snyder is just coming off as an entitled narcissistic psycho. I didn’t know litigation was involved. Why would he settle if there was nothing to it? Now I’m thinking he payed for a lot of those Snyder cut ads himself. WB could have taken it to him legally for stealing studio owned material but I’m guessing they just want to put all this in the past. It does explain how he was posting all those behind the scenes photos. He just did it without permission! People say Snyders a nice guy…only when you’re not in his way. It’s clear he has a real problem with authority.

Metallo Yeah it's kinda ironic given the fact Snyder claims to be a "scholar" of ancient Greece. The ancient Greeks prided themselves on knowing what their limitations were and retained a certain balance with regards to their outlook on life. And that's where Snyder has failed to learn his lesson. Everything is in excess.....and once he gets a lick of it......he just can't let go. I used to think that it applied to his work only. Now we learn that he even applies that excessive philosophy to the way he carries himself around in general. And WB have been on the recieving end of it!

All his films are excessive. They’re so stuffed and he can’t or won’t streamline them down even if it would make for better films. Sometimes you have to cut things out. That kind of discipline makes for a great filmmaker. Either he has trouble focusing or it’s all out of pure arrogance. He refuses to compromise which leads me to… Snyder’s a huge fan of Ayn Rand and her objectivist philosophy. Once you know that about him everything begins to make a lot more sense. That’s why he’s attracted to work like 300 and Watchmen because certain characters in those stories follow the same philosophy. It’s all over Man of Steel too and that’s why Man of Steel falls apart. Those kinds of beliefs are incompatible with any kind of traditional version of Superman. All Snyder’s work also has a certain level of toxic masculinity and narcissism and now we’re starting to see it come out in the man himself. We’re also seeing it in some of the people he’s worked with.

Goyer and Snyder heralded their "interptretation" of Supes as to how the world would react to a super alien living among us......and then contradicted that concept by focusing the camera on Cavill's ripped abs, as he was holding up the collapsing frame of the oil rigg in MoS , instead of concentrating on the reactions of the guys in the rescue chopper......... to said "super feat"! Those few frames of footage accentuate everything that I personally detest about Snyder's approach to "art". But it looks like there are plenty of fans and bots(!) who lap this CGI infested dogpoop, up. Each to their own. I had to look up and learn about who Ayn Rand was. At the very least she seemed like a walking contradiction. I one for one certainly have issues with her politics.....let alone her philosophy: Anyone who defines the Israelis as civilized men fighting "savages" (the Arabs) definitely has polarized filters on. She was not too kind on the Native Red Indians either. So much for empaphizing for those who have no power! Which kind of fits in with Snyder's approach........now the wanton mass destruction of Metropolis makes more sense. Savages deserved it!

To boil it down Rands ideas deal with being selfish and thinking of yourself first. To her your happiness and goals are most important no matter what. If you do good how does it benefit you not just the other person. You see it in Snyder’s movies and his heroes. It’s the opposite of what Superman is. Superman is an altruistic hero who serves because it’s the right thing to do. He puts others needs first and doesn’t expect anything for it. Donner understood that. Snyder’s Superman sometimes has the veneer of that but it’s all lip service. When it comes to his actions and even his words he doesn’t promote those ideals.
Look at how the Kent’s raise Clark in Man of Steel and BVS. It’s objectivist philosophy.
