First- I've been a longtime original legion of superheroes fan.
So... I WANTED to love the new film that came out- But- like a number of the animated projects, a mixed bag.
Good stuff: * Animation style overall. Half of the character designs I'm ok with. Would have preferred far more of either the classic or Cockrum costumes, but... eh.
* Supergirl and her expressions are great. Love the suit as similar to the tv show and Reeve films' era.
* Supergirl and Brainiac's love story- though... did he have to be bald?
* Entertaining enough story.
Bad stuff: * Some really unnecessary revisions to the characters. The creators say they're fans of the Legion- at the same time trash a lot or change a lot- with no real payoff for it.
* The future designs left me a bit flat.
* Some character designs that drove me up the wall.
Anyhow, it was good. Not great. Hopefully the future films will be better.

Haven’t seen it. I’m WAY behind on DC animated movies. A couple of years behind on most. I haven’t even bought Super Sons or the new Green Lantern film. The Tomorrowverse as they call it has left me cold and the current level of cheapness is an all time low for these direct to home media animated movies.

I actually really liked Super Sons and the Green Lantern film actually felt a bit epic (sampled both on streaming and enjoyed enough to buy the blu rays)- I don't mind cheaper animation if they stuck closer to the original designs and storylines I grew up with.... but then again, I usually felt that the 'motion comics' ended up being much better than the more expensively produced animation adatpations.

Unfortunately that cheaper animation means they usually won’t stick with those classic designs and styles because it would take more effort. See Killing Joke. I think one big reason they adapted so many stories as part of the justice league war continuity was to save money by doing more under a house style instead redesigning everything for every movie like they did when the release of these films started in 2007.

If possible, see if a friend or relative has a subscription to HBO Max to sample some of the DC animated films that have come out- I've found it an interesting mix- but definitely saved me the trouble (and money) in some cases of buying every new DC animated feature!
