Don’t think I’ve ever seen this one. Great to get more insight into his plans at the time.

He looks incredibly like Superman there.
In most other interviews, he somehow doesn't look quite as striking. But in this one, he just pops off the screen.

I thinks it’s the lighting and most of all the hairstyle and color. His hair would often be lighter or a different length or style. Here it looks a little darker (not black but darker), shorter, and more professional looking. Thats a big part in him looking more like Superman. In this particular interview Reeve actually looks a lot like the way he did in the film Monsignor. Which make sense because he was probably working on that film around that time.

I never saw Monsignor. Any good? I wasn’t that impressed with it. Great story idea but sloppy execution which is too bad considering some of the talent involved.

Reeve said that the editing and footage not used in the final cut contributed to a sub par product. To be honest , it does not look like there is any interest from cinefiles for a recut, which is a shame. But said recut could breath new life into this flick. As is, it's still head and shoulders above SIV! Only available on DVD still(which I have). Be nice to see on Blu ray.....as there is still some great cinematography which might benefit from the extra resolution.

A re-edit probably could improve the film but even then there’s only so much they could do. A better movie probably is in there somewhere though. The big question is if there’s enough interest there for any company to invest in something like that? I think you’re right saying it’s not there. The movie doesn’t have the cult following of Somewhere in Time or the Carpenter connection of Village Of The Damned or even the impact of Street Smart.

Don’t think I’ve ever seen this one. Great to get more insight into his plans at the time. Also interesting to see how he spoke of Sean Connery being so respected and esteemed at that time. I was under the impression that Connery's career had tanked long before 1981, and that he was doing crap like Meteor and Zardoz. I always thought he had been kind of forgotten until his real comeback in 1987 with The Untouchables. Of course, once he had done The Untouchables, Indiana Jones 3 and then The Hunt for Red October, he was back even bigger than before.

When it comes to box office he was arguably at his career low point at that time. That's probably another reason he did Never Say Never Again. For the clout to do other things. But it’s still Sean Connery. He was still in involved with some so so to good films in the 70's and early 80s. Cuba, A Bridge Too Far, Robin & Marian. Guys Reeve's age adored the man and had since boyhood. When you hear other actors around the same age like Pierce Brosnan or Clancy Brown talk about Sean Connery they speak like he was almost a god to them. The producers of Highlander were desperate to get Connery because he still had name value and recognition and this was before he worked on The Untouchables.

I never saw Monsignor. Any good? I saw it in the theatres ONLY because Reeve starred in it... but.... thought it was horribly dull and uninteresting. One of the worst in Reeve's short filmography.

Does that make you an Only Reeve person? 🤔 I was okay with Routh as the successor as a continuation of the Reeve/Donner version... so.... I'm not sure if that makes me a Only Reeve person or not, to be honest...

Each of them totally dedicated to Reeve Only causes.
