Superman - Lex wants land Superman II - Lex wants Australia Superman Returns - Lex wants more land Superman II RDC: Lex wants Australia (and Cuba) I forgot about that.. I've only watched the RDC once. I am due to see it again.. the ol lady hasn't seen it yet.. she knows a lil bit about it, but I don't want to just throw everything in her face at once lol.. so we'll be watching this soon, maybe tonight. She's never seen III and IV but I dont know if thats a good thing or not lol. She loves SR though and the first two Reeve movies. |

what this goes to show is that a multi-million dollar production , a critically acclaimed and commercially viable franchise CAN turn into a self-loathing episode of self-evisceration with a budget of about 50 bucks , plus catering.
it should be harder to get into the movie business.

Superman collects all the nukes in the space net and starts swinging it to hurl it into the sun.
However, he lets go of it too soon... and accidentally flings it back to Earth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Superman's jaw drops and he just floats there in space watching in horror as the explosive power of hundreds of nukes that were inside that net sets off an explosion of biblical proportions which reduces the Earth to a dusty charred orb.
Supes then looks at the camera and says "Ahh snaps!"

Perhaps included in the giant ball of string nukes was the rocket that Soran used in Star Trek Generations, causing the Sun to go supernova.

In an Early 90's Reeve Superman V? I think they would have shot some new scenes explaining a new origin for Nuclear Man one and then used the fight scene. Or they could have just opened with the NM one fight without any explaination just like a action james bond-esq opening to the picture.
Maybe Cannon could have licensed the unreleased Donner SII footage to seemlessly blend with the SIV deleted footage to create a BRAND NEW PICTURE SUPERMAN V!! That way most of the work would already have been done. They didn't even need to bring Reeve back, they could have gotten a Reeve double (like Mr. Thau did) and fill in the gaps and make an awesome picture!
I'm not sure why this wasn't done. We could have had a new Reeve movie. I know it wouldn't have been perfect but at least it woulda been better than that God-Awful Superman Returns!! Cause Supes actually HITS nuclear man one so we get some ACTION baby unlike mamby pamby pansy ass Superman Returns!

Lack of action in SR was never a problem for me. There was no place in the plot for a supervillain.. and introducing one just for the sake of a big fight would seem forced.

I don't recall Supes throwing a punch in STM and that movie was badass. well....... u gotta admit STM was a little... tame and uh wimpish.... all sissy like. But it was okay since this crapola was merely the prelude to the unholy destructive smorgasboard that was Superman II!! STM was only half the story we didn't need to see Superman hit anyone cause it was gonna happen in SII (note Donner's action scenes when Zod kicks Superman and Superman punches Non.) The problem with SR is that Superman just takes all that punishment from Lex without even putting up a fight. He shoulda said "Even without my powers I'll own your ass wimp!" Then he coulda gotten into a brawl with Lex. Lex would be losing and be like "YOU FOOL!" and then he would summon his goons into a melee free for all with Superman. Superman would kick their asses using Jujitsu techniques. And Lex would try to run away. Supes would yell "YOU CAN'T RUN FROM ME LEX!!!!!" Lex would say "I DON'T NEED TO RUN!!!!!!!" Then there would be a final kung fu fight between Lex and Superman using Matrix wirework and bullet time effects. Now THAT woulda been a great picture! |
