I really feel that we struck gold with our new Superman David. I love this cast already. And I need this new movie to be great and magical. DC needs a big hit, a Superman movie that most like/love. We don't need another mediocre and divisive film. We know some idiots will never accept this new vision.. but what matters is that MOST embrace it for the future of the DCU to happen. I want to love, love this movie. I don't want to come out of it and have big issues with it. It needs to be better, more enjoyable than Returns and Man of Steel were. And I like those movies, they have great scenes and moments for me and I like both Routh and Cavill in the role, BUT those movies could have been a lot better in parts. So.. I just want the new one to live up to the hype. To my hype. It looks really good, IMO. I have LOVED the trailers, and almost everything I've seen. I don't expect it to be without a flaw... I just want to feel how I felt after watching Aquaman. A movie I found so fun and emotional and just awesome. OK I'm done.

Pretty sure Nic has seen the film, but Rachel and David said they are seeing it on the 7th with the fans.

Corenswet could be fantastic, but if the script is bad, then the movie will be bad. The actor is just one of many elements that make a great movie.

I think this isn’t a case like MOS and it’s casting. Not only was the writing and directing poor but Cavill was a limited actor and Adams was miscast. Gunn has cast the best people he could get for the main roles. Corenswet and Brosnahan have the talent and are the right fits. Brosnahan in particular is a no brainer for Lois Lane. Good casting can rise above the other limitations but it can’t save the movie if everything else is a failure.

Good casting can rise above the other limitations but it can’t save the movie if everything else is a failure. This is exactly right. And to see an illustration, we need only look at the Star Wars sequel trilogy. They had Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford in their original roles. You couldn't ask for better casting! And despite the casting, the movies were crap. So yes, good casting can't save a movie if everything else is a failure.

That’s it! How do it feel to you? Let me think I would tell the Snyder Only People: it is like a finger pointing the way to the moon. Don’t concentrate on the finger or you will miss all the heavenly glory.

great article "Superman is the story of America. An immigrant.. but for me, it is mostly a story that says basic human kindness is a value and is something we have lost.. I’ve never worked as hard on a film as I did on 'Superman'" "I say how in our divided world, if Superman did actually turn up, we would argue against him, shun him, call him a fraud and kick him out. “It’s happening with the movie,” Gunn says. “We posted footage of David with a bunch of kids who were extras on set. Kids love Superman — it’s like when they see Santa. And David is high-fiving them, it was so beautiful, such a cute video. And then I saw people saying, ‘Oh, great, we’ve got a Superman who’s a pussy.’ Are you kidding me? That’s something you’re going to attack? That little kids like this guy and he’s kind?” www.thetimes.com/culture/film/article/james-gunn-interview-superman-film-2025-david-corenswet-dhb3bw3rp

Global Box Office
@globalboxoff
· 10h
#Superman tracking shows pre-sales have decelerated a bit as anticipation grows for tomorrow’s review embargo lift.
We’ve heard good things from people who actually watched it and we’re projecting an $150M+ opening domestically, $300M+ globally.
Expect another update tomorrow.
Saw this on X today. In Brazil is tracking strong too.

Definitely agree with Gunn, and I’ve been saying it for years: Superman’s origin has been done to DEATH.

It's getting mostly rave reactions!! Even Grace Randolph loves it and says it's the best Superman movie to date and near perfect. David and Nic getting high praise, but Rachel also getting love, Mr Terrific and even Jimmy! Someone said that all the supporting characters have a moment to shine, but make no mistake, this is Superman's story, he's front and center. :')
