Just had to share this: A few nights ago Mom and I picked up a nice used computer desk and office chair (spoils of Craigslist, woo). Now, just because Mom's not really the fangirl type doesn't mean she's not prone to occasional bouts of geekdom, but I never expected her to suggest this, and I had to facepalm myself for not having thought of it... It's mounted on with sticky-back Velcro. My chair is now made of awesome. ;D

And to think Mom's now wanting a Superman shield on the hood of her truck and a Batman logo on the tailgate. *dies* Unfortunately, automotive painting is not among my skillz.

Pariah. That is BEYOND cool!
That sheild you have was molded off the actual one that was used on the costume.
There was some event where Brandon was signing some of them.
Best Office Chair EVER!

Pariah. That is BEYOND cool! That sheild you have was molded off the actual one that was used on the costume. There was some event where Brandon was signing some of them. Best Office Chair EVER! Actually, no, it wasn't. It was sculpted by someone in the UK who just did a lot of photo research and tried to match it as best as possible. The 3-D curve is way too shallow; it's almost flat. It's too small also, small enough that I could use it for a costume if I want to, which is in this case a good thing. It was slightly less great than it looked in the eBay photos and more dull/dark, but I was still happy to have it. You're thinking of the Bronze Armory shields, and I question that they're made off the movie molds, because supposedly they're too large. I also don't much like their uber-glossy finish. Right now a guy on my costuming board (Martin-El might know, since he's on that board too; his name's Matt Munson) is attempting to make the most screen-accurate SR suit yet, and I think he's gonna do a pretty damn good job from what I've seen. His shield actually has the bevels on each of the 3 corners along the outer border. He's having some other people help sculpt and laser-etch the boot soles too, which is fairly mindblowing. So far the boots have been the weak spot in most of the replica suits I've seen. From the get-go I've felt they're a little too tricked out, but props to anyone who can sculpt them almost exactly the same and make them fit better than galoshes.

My bad, I thought that you had one of those that was actually molded from the one in the movie. Now that I look closer at it, youre right, yours doesnt have the pronounced bevel. Still looks good though.

Wow! That's beautiful. Great to see so much effort being put into costume replication. Passion is important
