Finally!!!! Bwahahahahaha! I absolutely loved this cartoon but had given up hope of ever getting an official DVD release. But seeing the Ruby Spears Plastic Man DVD from WB did give me a small bit of hope. I cannot wait for this. It was the perfect bridge between the kid friendly Superfriends cartoons and the animated series explosion of the 90s. Thank you WB!!!

its sorta like the last couple seasons of superfriends/superpowers ... but a little less corny - same animation quality/style .
based on byrne's revamp - but with william's theme music.
good to have , i think TIMMverse smokes it , but still good to have .

Never seen this, but I love Supes and Lois' look, and I've also heard good things about it. It's very much a forerunner of the Dini/Timm Superman, both in its structure (mixing and matching pre-Crisis and post-Crisis elements into a cohesive whole) and in execution (big orchestral scores, a more serious tone to the scripting). As to its look? You can thank the late Gil Kane for that. He was the character designer on the series. After the depressing Smallville news of late, this is a welcome antidote. It'll be nice to have some good TV Superman to look forward to.

the show's based on Gil Kane's character designs.....but this cover art is based on John Byrne's Man of Steel limited comicbook series. Still, it's a nice cover. Has a bit of the Reeve look to it! come to think of it, what makes WB release this series now? usually they'd only release past series when it coincides with something big like a Superman movie, so as to boost DVD sales. but there isnt any in the pipeline now

well maybe its because its a cartoon- and they have been doing well with animated films ( thank you , bruce timm ) and maybe they thought they'd throw it into the mix and have it there on the shelf next to " JL-new frontier " and " green lantern first flight " .

Is there actual footage from the TV series while he does voice overs? If so, I'd buy this! If not, it sounds pretty tedious.

No, it's more like interview footage of him in and around his home. He's suppost to share a load of anecdotes on EVERY episode of the series. I believe he also shares some props from the show. I bought one and I'll share information about when I get it. It will go great with my other Batman TV show related DVDs, including the "Masters Collection" of the TV series.

Can't wait to hear all about it!
And what is this "master collection" you speak of?

I believe he's talking about the various bootleg DVD sets offered on sites like ioffer.com that claim to be sourced from the master prints of the show. I knew someone that got a such a set years ago and was not happy with the quality at all. I don't know if everyone is selling the same "master" set or if there is one set that actually is great quality.

The batch I got looks like they may have been the prints given to A&E to do their Biography special for the show. A heck of a lot better than my first set, which were recordings from UK's FX.
