this cable channel has recently added S:TM and S: II ( theatrical ) into a heavy rotation.
kind of a wierd funky nostalgia...its pan-and-scan , AND a weak quality print they are using... after all these years since the 2001 dvd's its a bit of an indulgence to watch it like this, but i stayed up late to see superman break Zod's hand with grainy footage and a cropped frame.

I couldn't get over the piss poor quality of the films on TVland, either. It looks like the restored versions of both films from the DVDs, but pan and scan of course. But, like you said, very grainy picture, jerky movements during action sequences. I feel bad for anyone seeing these films on TVland after having not seen them in a while. I did notice that Matthew Reeve immediately followed the ending credits with a PSA for the Reeve foundation. Very cool of TVland to do that.

I am of the opinion that TV/Cable shows really shouldnt air Movies and have commercial interruptions and even dumb commentary. Great Movies & Regular TV dont mix.. Know what I mean?

I don't see why AMC doesn't change their name already because they do not show American Movie Classics. In the past year, they've shown the Catwoman movie, all the Robocop movies, all the Rocky movies (I love these but classics most of them aren't), The Nightmare on Elm Street movies, the Halloween sequels, etc. In fact, it's more likely that you'll find a really crappy movie on AMC than anything good. At least TCM really does show classic films.

i caught a little bit of STM on tv land too. ya know what i hate? channels are now starting to put the name of the movie on the screen like how they advertise their station. so not only do we have "tv land" or whatever station your watching plastered on the screen 100% of the time, but we also have "SUPERMAN" on the bottom left hand corner throughout the whole friggin' movie. REALLY??? is this really necessary? i know what movie i'm watching and if i didn't know all i have to do is press info. little things like this really piss me off. i'm not a regular watcher of G4, but they were airing fight club and they too had "fight club" on the bottom of the screen. retarded. i remember the good old days (80's) where there was so station identification or any advertisements during the actual program. i look at my old vhs tapes and it's just the movie or show on the screen and nothing else. BAH!

The problem is, you're more than likely to see the inferior sequels than the originals on AMC.
