Dark Horizons reports that filmmaker George Miller appeared on Sydney-based morning talk show "Sunrise" on Monday and confirmed he's no longer involved with the Justice League movie in any capacity.

Miller indicated that if the project does get going again, he expects that it'll be recast as "the studios seem to want bigger stars in their superhero movies now."

Its obviously been dead for months, at least in its current incarnation. This is the first official word from Miller himself.

Hopefully this will be looked at again post Batman 3 with the RIGHT people (Routh, Bale, etc.)

Green Lantern’ Co-Writer Marc Guggenheim On Casting Superman’s Cameo And Script ChangesPublished by Jennifer Vineyard on Monday, December 1, 2008 at 12:21 pm.

'Green Lantern'The “Green Lantern” movie is rolling right along, co-screenwriter Marc Guggenheim tells us — even if digressions about other comics characters sometimes distract them from the task at hand.

“This morning, we sat down to talk Green Lantern,” Guggenheim told MTV, “and we ended up riffing for an hour and a half on another, much more obscure character. Sometimes, you just have to roll with it when inspiration strikes, you know? I’m sure the studio wouldn’t be happy about it, but we’re not going to blow the deadline. We’ll get it in.”

Guggenheim said that he and fellow screenwriters Michael Green and Greg Berlanti (who’s also directing the film) are on the third studio draft, and they’ve just been refining the script based on studio notes and locations.

“[The changes are] nothing that’s affecting the storyline, really,” he said. “It’s pretty well set. But sometimes we’ll move a scene to a different location for budget purposes, perhaps in an already established location instead of a new one. It’s a question of, which locations can we live without? It’s a constant process to streamline what you’re going through, even after the film is shot, when you’re cutting things in the edit. That’s what the rewrite process is like, how you sand down the roughness of the a movie to its smoothest.”

Besides scripting, Berlanti is in constant talks with the designers such as Aaron Sims (who recently gave us a peek at his “X-Men Origins: Magneto” character designs).

“I’ll come over and drool [at the designs],” Guggenheim said. “I will say that the design work is truly mindblowing, and it’s hard to pick a favorite. But the shots on Oa are spectacular. What Oa looks like has never been seen on film.”

And while there’s already a lot of speculation over who would play Green Lantern — Ryan Gosling? Matthew Settle? David Boreanaz? — what about Clark Kent, who will make a small cameo? Will the part go to someone already established on film or television to be the Man of Steel, like Brandon Routh or Tom Welling?

“There were rumors that Tom Welling would have a cameo in ‘Batman Begins’ as a young Clark Kent, to meet up with a young Bruce Wayne,” Guggenheim noted. “But you have to be careful when you do things like that, because it sounds great in concept, but when you sit down to watch it, it poses the danger of pulling you out of the film.”

But as a self-proclaimed “sucker for a good Easter egg,” Guggenheim said, “The fanboy in me would love that. Robert Downey, Jr. in ‘The Hulk’ was awesome. I love that stuff in general, and I think the fans would enjoy it. Brandon Routh or even Tom Welling [in 'Green Lantern'] would be awesome. And anything is possible. The beauty part of being the writer, though, is that I don’t actually have to make that judgment call.”

A few days ago, Dark Horizons posted a story that was quickly linked out to by many sites. Said story involved George Miller's appearance on an Australian morning show called SUNRISE, where Miller revealed he was now completely uninvolved with the long-brewing JUSTICE LEAGUE movie project.

Turns out, THIS NEVER HAPPENED. A release from Kennedy Miller Mitcheck sharply debunked the reports, saying:

This scoop was entirely fabricated.

George Miller did not appear on the ‘Sunrise Morning Show’ let alone confirm anything about JUSTICE LEAGUE or MAD MAX. The facts are indeed the complete opposite to what was reported.

Not really. Read again:

If this happens, it's going to be in a long time. The only DC proyect that has real steam right now is Green Lantern. Yup, we are not having a Superman movie any time soon, especially not in 2010, and not with Singer, sadly. But according to insiders, Brandon is still the ONE and ONLY choice to portray Superman in the next movie so far; WB loves him. So, if you are a Routh fan and if you believe in God, pray for his return.

routh has a good 12 years to still look the part, so yeah- it would be deficient by even WB standards to replace routh.

i am not 100% sold that singer is out- i remember nic cage being 2 weeks from being superman , and conversely wolfgang peterson having a greenlight for a worlds finest film to start in 2002..... if history teaches us anything here its that it can't help us predict anything.

as to beliveing in god.... friend.... thats a whole other thing...

but yeah- i will soldier on for routh...

Were some of those ridiculous casting choices rumors or actually confirmed? DJ Cotrona and Armie Hammer just cannot play Superman and Batman in the same movie. One is 5'8 and the other is 6'6. Superman would be absolutely dwarfed by the Dark Knight.

I don't think they officially announced the cast, with the exception of the Brody kid and the girl that was going to play Wonder Woman.

Hammer confirmed himself that he was gonna be Batman just like Common confirmed he was GL but no WB never made it official in a press release or anything.

Believe it or not, but DJ Cotrona WAS Miller's choice for Supes...

It was confirmed by the mod at br.com, and she does have legit sources.
