I can see it now:
911: 911 operator, what's your emergency?
Pillow: Yes, there's a 6' tall Mexican outside my house with a tape recorder and a microphone. And there are no Mexicans here in The Woodlands, this guy must be up to no good.
911: Understood, Montgomery County Sheriffs Department is on its way.

I'd be all for going and meeting Pillow. He's in driving distance and I'd love to get a picture with him. I'm just not sure how to approach the matter. What are you putting in your letter, legs?
And everyone should calm down about him giving a commentary on Jimbo's edit. It's one thing to give a retrospective interview and be friendly to the fans, but a full length commentary on a roughly assembled fan edit is a bit much, don't you think? I mean if he did it that would be great, but let's not get our hopes up.

I remember in the documentaries, Donner mentioned that he might have not had the chutzpah to ask Brando to be Jor-el...but then over time, he'd learned, "If you don't ask, you don't know."- I think it's awesome that you guys are planning to ask Pillow about a visit. If you guys are discussing ideas.... ...I think offering to buy lunch or such wouldn't hurt....or maybe ask if he wouldn't mind a video interview/chat (if you guys are considering it) to put online for more exposure for him as well? (I imagine it'd be a win-win scenario, maybe...) Again, whatever feels right- and I wouldn't throw these out normally, but it sounds like you guys are fielding ideas on the forum, so.... just tossing thoughts/random ideas out there---

Fixed it for you legs. I can see it now: 911: 911 operator, what's your emergency? Pillow: Where is the woman? 911: Would you like to file a missing persons report sir? Pillow: Tell me or I will hurt people. 911: Understood, Montgomery County Sheriffs Department is on its way.

If he does attend a convention, ((if whoever is in charge of one he might attend is listening)), it might be fun to have Pillow do a 'live' feature audio commentary and have a screening of SIV there! just as long as he wears the costume, i'll be happy.

Great interview with Mark!..he comes across as great guy. im suprised he was left out of the loop of all the problems and was unware of what was going on.
Yes i have spoken to Clive Mantle he passed on all the info i needed but things didnt really work in the end for interview to be published just for the attention of 'lotsaheight'.

OMG how surreal would it be to take Mark Pillow out to lunch! Would it be too much to ask that he wears the costume? I'm sure he has it around somewhere like for laundry days or whatever.

Other than the boots, which I told Mark are at the Super Museum in Metropolis, he has no idea what ever happened to the costume. When the premieres had wrapped, the costume was sent back to the wardrobe department and it's current whereabouts are unknown. The recent one that was available at auction seemed to be a fake as it was missing the "N" insignia on the chest.
An interesting side note, the soles of the Nuclear Man boots were actually small burners that when heated melted styrofoam that Mark walked across to make it look like he was actually melting concrete with each step.

Oh how cool. I thought the burn marks were superimposed on the image later. Nice to know the movie got at least one decent special effect.

Pillow's boots alone cost $1MM dollars.

OMG! How did I miss this?! Damn. Mark seems like an awesome guy, really awesome guy. He seems very humble and kind. It's so great he took the time to actually answer some things we've been wondering about for some time!
He must be the only approachable person from the superman movies?

Now that the holidays have subsided, Mark had a chance to send me two photos of how he looks today. So, without any further delay.... Still waiting to hear if he'll be invited to the Metropolis, IL Superman Celebration this year...

I've been trying to get him over here to the board. He's not online much but does appreciate hearing from the fans so please write to him, you will get a response. He sent me an oversized autographed pic of himself as Nuclear Man. I'll scan it soon and post it to the forum.

Heh, it isn't quite that bad. If he grew his hair out a bit I bet he'd pretty much look as he did back then. You can see he has the same hair line if you look closely to some Nuclearman photos, it's just shorter now.
