I mean, Was there ever a time when you weren't a Superman fan? And what made you start to like him?

I was born on December 25, 1977. STM was released a year later so I grew up as a Superman fan. I'll be 31 this Christmas so I can actually say I've been Superman fan for 30 years.

Well I always liked the movies and the L&C show growing up but I can only really say I've been a fan since I was about 15 or so.
Although I used to watch them on old VHS tv recordings, I kind of forgot about the films for years. Then Smallville came on the TV and while I was watching it I guess it ignited the fan-boy in me. Since then I've kind of been a geek for all the films and to a much lesser extent TV shows.

I liked the movies growing up as a kid. I had the cable recording of STM, the ABC cut of S2, the ABC cut of S3, and a theatrical cut cable recording of S4.
Although I liked the movies, I didn't call myself a fan. I much preferred Star Trek, Star Wars, BTTF. Still do, really.
My interest only grew because of the S2 controversies when I realized that the ABC cut was not the real Superman II.

Ever since Reeve took off to save Lois from falling off the Daily Planet building I became hooked and grown to love Superman more and more over the years. Even watched Lois & Clark. I used to wear the underoos. I have a pretty nice Superman costume too.

I've been a Superman fan since I was a young 'un.
Reeve and Williams' music are the key reasons why I'm a Superman fan.

When I was about 7, my parents bought me a book with a collection of samples of all the golden age heroes- dc and marvel... and loved Superman, Batman, etc.--- and became a comics fan quickly after--- and loved the Superman George Reeves' tv reruns and the Adam West Batman reruns as well- Over time, the Superman comix--- were ok, but I remember eventually finding them rather dull in comparison to other comics that were out, and eventually fell away from Superman comix to Marvel Comics. When I'd heard that a Superman movie was being made, with the Curt Swan version of Supes, I assumed that they would have made Supes be someone in his 40's or 50's (that's how the Swan version looks to me)--- so it was a little hard to picture it being nearly as interesting at that time. Then, when STM came out and had SUCH a fresh take on the mythos in every aspect, I felt like that 7 year old again reading Superman on the page for the very first time in my life--- so, you can imagine how amazing I found that! So....to answer the question- I was, then wasn't, but then Donner/Reeve made me a fan again- hopefully Johns/Singer/Routh will keep me that way for a long time.

I am more of a fan of Superman because of the comics than the movies. I like the movies a lot but they are not my favorite movies. Star Wars, BTTF, and Indiana Jones are.

I've been a Superman fan for as long as I can remember. I must have had at least 3 or 4 Superman "Super Powers" figures cause I worn them out so much when I was little. Still wish I had one I've always loved Superman, I don't remember if I seen II or III in the theaters but I remember going to see IV. I had gotten some comics when I was younger but then when I was about 9 or 10 my grandpa and I started a account at a local comic shop and started picking up monthly issues of Superman, Batman and a few others here and there. I'm just as much a Superman fan now than I was back then.

CAM said, " So....to answer the question- I was, then wasn't, but then Donner/Reeve made me a fan again- hopefully Johns/Singer/Routh will keep me that way for a long time."Yeah, my experience is very similar to this. As far as I can remember, I ALWAYS liked Superman. I just liked him so much because he was so nice, wholesome, very powerful, oh yeah, and very handsome. ;D What can I say, I'm a girl. I have enjoyed most versions of him, especially the movies and the cartoons, yeah, even superfriends! I watched very little of the George Reeves tv shows (in reruns), but I liked it. George had a kind face and was a very good actor. But it was with the first two Superman movies when I fell hard for Supes. I just LOVED them, especially Chris and the William's score. I remember how I developed this huge crush on Chris. He was so perfect in the role. God bless his soul. So, I watched the movies a few times during my childhood, but them I moved on with my life. I think I didn't become a big fan of The Man of Steel just yet? I dunno. But I sure never forgot those movies or Chris. How could you? Then I watched Superman Returns. OMG. I, again, fell really hard for Supes. I LOVED the movie so much, and Brandon totally won me over. He gave life to The Man of Steel all over again. I was 7 years old. And a Superman Fan was born in July 2006. And I know that this time is forever. Long live the king of superheroes: Superman!

I was born in 1980. The extended version of STM aired on ABC in 1981, I think it was. My parents both loved the movie so they recorded it and I guess when I saw it very shortly thereafter, I went nuts for it. Age 1. Watched it weekly, I think. That's what I'm t old, anyhow. The tape broke eventually in my late 9's, but being that I'd refuse to let that be it, I figured if it was broken, I'd fix it. And I did! I think I still have that same tape but with the theatrical USA network version recorded over it. Whoops.
Anyhow. Now age 28. Still nuts for it.
But loving STM got me to love Superman in general, not just the movies. I had Superman sheets, clothes, underwear, toys, used to dress up like him when we'd go to the mall and I'd take off the little boy's blazer I was wearing and revealed the makeshift Superman suit I had on underneath. My mom LOVES telling that story. My mom has tons and TONS of Superman related Kevin stories, actually. And she loves Superman quite a bit, too. More so than my dad, I'd say. So I suppose it was destiny that I'd be into the Man of Steel. Resistance would've been futile.
The score was the first audio tape I bought, the first CD I bought, it's usually the first movie I play when I move into a new place, people that I get to know well tend to associate Superman with me from then on. It's just how it goes.
As to why I started to like Superman in general, I think it's pretty easy. Because I love him. Loved him instantly. I knew what he was. What he was about. He helped people. Made things better. And nothing else has come close. As far as fictional characters go, no one will ever top Superman for me.
Jack Bauer's a distant second.
