Which is a bigger disgrace to it's franchise?
Both part 4
Both released at the same time
Both made with a shoe string budget
Both have crap fx
Both ridiculous (SIV- Women breathing in space, daytime all over the world at the same time etc. JTR- A roaring shark with a personal vendetta etc.)
Both had the good intention of returning the franchise to the roots of the first movie due to the previous entry treading too far away from the source material (SIII and Jaws 3-D)
Both bombed
Both crap

I choose Superman IV because JAws The Revenge is just unforgivable. So implausible, and more crap than Superman IV. Supes IV intentions were better than Revenge, in my opinion.

Its not even a question. Jaws The Revenge was like something Peter Griffin would write. I can never even watch it all in one sitting. The shark ROARED...like a lion or something!

I liked them both as a kid. I saw both on opening weekend. But, one movie has Michael Caine and the other one doesn't. So, Michael Caine gets my vote.

The shark ROARED...like a lion or something! To be fair, so did Nuclearman (on Lex's balcony).

Jaws the Revenge is an abomination to Jaws itself. The Jaws 'franchise' was never particularly sustainable, as there is only just enough story to cover Jaws 2. (Actually, as a side note Jaws 2 is one of the best examples of a unnecessary sequel which is actually pretty decent). Every Jaws after that was bound to either be a completely new story (with no tie to any of the original characters) or contain some ridiculous convoluted plot as to why the Brodys were constantly plagued by killer sharks. It also ended up being crap in general with Ellen's ESP connection with the fish, and a man that somehow survives being eaten by a shark that was stabbed by a boat.
The Superman franchise had and has much more potential, and SIV squanders this at every turn (bar some performances by the leads). This is why I chose SIV as the worse abomination: it had a much greater potential for being an amazing film.

You must come from a place where lions sound like people. Thats Hackman's voice augmented in that "roar." In Jaws The Revenge it was literally a lions roar.

Like i said its not even a question. Jaws The Revenge was a joke from the start. Anything after Jaws 2 was pretty pointless. The whole premise of a shark out for revenge?

personally, i think if that premise had been handled/written properly, it could have had pontential... i actually found the personal vendetta concept to be quite creepy. when disregard the other movies and think of the concept itself and what it is... which was very much a supernatural one, it's actually kinda cool...

Is everyone voting correctly? Seems like the Poll is saying which is worst, where as most of the comments are picking which was better...

Supes IV is worse to me. Why? Cuz I don't give a damn about that shark, but I LOVE Superman.

I actually like and am glad that Superman IV exists. Was it a giant disappointment? Yes...but they TRIED and I can still enjoy a sincere performance by Reeve, who still looked great in the outfit.
Superman III and Lester's bits on Superman II--- THOSE were far more blasphemous to the Superman franchise for me, because Lester could care less about trying to live up to the Donner aesthetics, whereas Superman IV had the intention, at least.

That was a good clip, Jor-L. Sad that Jeni's dead now though. This is a tough question, but seeing as the Jaws 'franchise' never had much respect to begin with, I'd have to say Superman IV. In watching Jimbo's edit it struck me how unprofessional the entire production was and an inexcusable disgrace to the Superman name. How they ever thought they could get away with what they were trying to pull on us is beyond me.

From what I've read here and there, Reeve and Furie's hearts were in the right place on Superman IV- but Canon pulled the rug from under them with the budget. Lester's heart wasn't in Superman III (or II for that matter)... again, III I think is far more of a disgrace than IV.

Reeve's reduced to costar in his own movie in Superman III. AND he shouldn't have been outpaid by that point.
As bad as SIV is the concept is basically in keeping with whats set up in the Superman universe. Jaws 4 is totally absurd. everything about it is absurd.

Reeve's (Superman's) Speech at the U.N. helps push Superman IV past Jaws:Revenge...

You didn't care for it? I thought Reeves was so sincere in that scene that I found it moving, and one of the few scenes that really worked despite budget issues.

I think he means Superman IV is better than Jaws 4 because of the speech.
