Superman and Jaws were both great films, but I say Jaws is the better film. Jaws is regarded as the bigger classic.
Superman II and Jaws II are both OK movies. Not generally regarded as huge classics, but not forsaken either. Jaws II brought back the Brodys and John Williams.
Superman III began the disgrace for Superman, but Jaws 3-D was a larger shitstorm.
Superman IV was a bigger disgrace than Superman III, but it at least had the original cast and a good score. Jaws 4 was just a stupid stupid joke made only to try and make money.
The drop between STM and Superman IV has got NOTHING on the drop between Jaws and Jaws 4.
Jaws 4 was the much much larger disgrace.

Interesting parallels. I guess things don't look too promising for Jaws Returns

Try thinking of it this way - they're both very bad films. BUT, which of them is the most fun to watch? Not taking into consideration the FX or pathetic storylines, which to you is the most entertaining, even if it's that bad it makes it good? For me it's Jaws 4. Superman 4 is just tedious whereas Jaws 4 still has some watchability. For me, anyway.

I guess in the end, it's all opinion and preference....Personally, I thought Superman III was the stupid stupid joke that was made just to try to make money--- whereas Superman IV actually tried to get back to the Donner quality.
I find Superman IV far more watchable than III--- Though DC may be equally to blame for the film as Richard Lester, for just trying to put a package together that they thought would bring a lot of money (with Richard Pryor) rather than really believing in its own character and what was set up in STM. (And at least Jeannette Khan, the president of DC at the time owned up to the mistakes made on the documentary).

Well, I haven't seen that Shark sequel, but I find Supes IV soo bad and silly that it can be a lot of fun... if I'm in the mood...
I don't know, CAM, I've heard from some people that Reeve only agreed to be in Supes IV because he wanted to be part of another movie he did right after it, not because he was that committed to the character, by then. And it shows, IMO; he didn't even try to gain enough weight to be in a real supermanly shape. Pillow, on the other hand was huge, despite how ridiculous his character was.

Superman IV is unintentionally funny. Jaws: The Revenge is just...I don't know what they were thinking. don't you think it should be... MORE challenging to go to a major studio and pitch a movie..and get a budget...and hire people... dont films like these make you wonder why its " hard " to get into the " biz "... ??

Superman II and Jaws II are both OK movies. Not generally regarded as huge classics, but not forsaken either. Jaws II brought back the Brodys and John Williams. I'd say Superman II is held in higher regard. It's the movie that made General Zod into a major Superman villain, and it's a legitimate continuation of the first movie. It only exists because the original script was so long they decided to make two movies out of it.

As a kid, I thought Jaws IV was better despite the vengeful shark angle...BUT and this is a big but...I grew up watching the version that did NOT have an exploding shark and it was the version where Jake (Van Peebles) stays dead.
It's frustrating to debate Jaws IV because no one seems to have seen "my" version.
As a kid, I felt embarassed by SIV. I didn't feel that way about Jaws IV.

2 more funny tidbits...
1. One of my favorite quotes:
Michael Caine on Jaws: The Revenge...
"I have never seen it, but by all accounts it is terrible. However, I have seen the house that it built, and it is terrific."
2. Bloody hilarious review of JTR on some austrailian show...
