Will Lester’s Superman ever receive a restoration job on the level of Superman: The Movie’s? I hope they do, because the picture quality REALLY needs it.

I hope it is restored for blu-ray. They should have restored it for the 2006 dvd's.

I thought the film looked pretty good as is. They were even kind enough to provide a 5.1 mix from the original audio, which they couldn't even do for us for STM.
S3 and S4 didn't get the 5.1 treatment, but I'm glad S2 did. What I would like is an enhanced score using the restored OST used on the CDs.
If/when it goes to Blu-ray, it'll undoubtedly get some sort of restoration treatment.

I was just pissed that the Donner Cut's picture quality was better than the exact same footage in Lester's.

It'd be nice to have a restored version of Lester's II. Who knows, maybe they'll clean it up for a future Blu-ray release.

I was just pissed that the Donner Cut's picture quality was better than the exact same footage in Lester's. Really? I compared that footage a lot, and thought that the Lester version looked better. The entire movie had a shade of brown to it (while the Donner had a shade of blue), but I found it sharper. I assume for the Donner Cut, they just downscaled the HD master they used for the Blu-ray and HD-DVD, and messed it up, like they did with SR.

That's one of the things I noticed. It's really apparent in the White House scenes with Luthor. The white has that brown tint to it while Donner's actually looks white. I also noticed that the Niagara exterior scenes looked crystal clear in the Blu-ray version while they always looked hazy in the standard editions. I always assumed it was because Niagara mist. As a matter of fact, I think the color of Superman II RIC was better than the DVD. Maybe that's why it's my favorite.

Wasn't the 2006 DVD a new digital transfer? It looks slightly better than the 2001 pressing.

Na Jimbo the print really needs some work. Very weak color palette and some dirt and scratches still remain. Take the Non Superman chase scene for example, there's a vertical line running through the screen as they pass under the bridge.
Having said that the picture will never be on the same level as STM because it wasn't shot with the same degree of attention to detail. SII has always looked weak.

Alright then, bring it on!
Wasn't there a quasi-restoration for Superman III which undid a lot of the wire removal?
