This'll be my first Hot Toys purchase, placed the order via Sideshow yesterday. Guess we'll all start receiving them in November at some stage?

November 14th is when Sideshow is supposed to have it in stock. However, if you chose to pay with the FlexPay option, your figure won't ship until the final payment installment clears, which for some could be as late as January.

I got a notice from Sideshows a few days ago, telling me that they're going to receive it in their wherehouse in 27 days, so... pretty soon!

Looks good, but that's no Chris Evans.

Looks good, but that's no Chris Evans. "I knew John Kennedy. John Kennedy was a friend of mine....and you, sir are no John Kennedy"

Zod's costume looks better than the real thing.

Looks good, but that's no Chris Evans. i agree although it doesn't bother me as much since half of the face is masked. i'm still getting it. it's a great looking figure.

Seeing this makes me wish more than anything that Donner had finished 2. I'd like to imagine that maybe he would've shot something like this. Assuming he re-shot the de-powering scene and decided Supes should lose his powers BEFORE sleeping with Lois, and thus we'd get the same thing we got in the theatrical, but with Jor-el instead of Lara. Jor-el would've actually put his hands on Supes, instead of just walking and putting out her arms to him like Lara did. Or possibly when Jor-el touches de-powered Supes, when he puts his hands on him, it re-powers him and Supes costumes re-appears or something. heck, it could've even been an imaginary scene in Supes' mind towards the end of the film. After Supes drops Lois off at her home and flies around at night after everything's been taken care of (Lex and the villains I mean), we could've gotten a heartwarming scene of Supes thinking about his dad while flying around. Similar to hearing his father's (and foster father's) voice at the end of part 1 before he turns back time.

Anyone else agree that this pic really shows how far hot Toys has come in the last few years as far as quality of the figures? I wonder how much better the Routh figure 's head and costume would look on the new Reeve style body (with a readjusted skin tone to make them match of course)? Aaaaand this is the pic I've been dying to see. Thank you. I bet these two would make for a great display. Especially with all the fortress/crystal accessories.

Well, it is interesting how much more 'punch' the scene gets by having Supes IN COSTUME at the FOS console versus not. When you place both SII scenes together, the lack of costume on Supes does feel a little odd.... even though Lois was supposed to have his shirt/etc. Even though it was a Donner scene, it also almost seems disrespectful (which may have been the point though) for Superman to be lacking his kryptonian threads while addressing his father. But..... yeah, I agree Tyler- the image does call back to the whole set of wondering what kinds of movie memories we would have gotten for SII had Donner finished it.... It'll always be an open wound...(sigh)

Anyone else agree that this pic really shows how far hot Toys has come in the last few years as far as quality of the figures? So true. I remember being so impressed with the HT Routh figure in 2006 because it looked so "real." But now, it looks very amateurish compared to how far HT has come with their craft. Makes you wonder how much better they'll get in another few years.

Would it be possible to rotoscope Supes' costume onto normal clothed Reeve for those shots in Donner's de-powering scene? He stands pretty still for the most part. It might be possible. Considering that we (meaning us fancutters) usually use the Lester shots of Lois in her night-gown, the continuity would be fine (meaning there wouldn't be 2 Superman costumes being worn by both Supes and Lois). It would also mean being able to use the Lester chamber shots for the de-powering since Supes is wearing his costume in those shots. Makes me wonder if Selutron has done this in his cut already, considering everything else he's done.

There is a 'formula' that's on the web that shows how to 'track' movement on putting one item onto another (which is most likely how the 'scar' on Routh from the fan cut of Superman fighting Doomsday was done), it can most likely be done. How much time/effort would it take? Hurmm.... I actually attempted the reverse- by trying to rotoscope the Superman costume onto Lois, using video from Supergirl- without the formula, and the results were not great- (shakiness of one frame messes up covering Lois) but I haven't tried it WITH the formula yet. Even with the attempt, seeing a 'test cut' it still feels better for Supes to be wearing the costume...

Very nice. The slightly furrowed brow lends itself pretty well for Evil Supes. Nice touch on the salt-and-pepper S3 hair.
