See IMDB or Variety for full details.
May 6, 2016 is the new release date and shooting is also being put back till the second quarter of this year.
Perhaps they knew it was a bad idea to compete with Avengers 2 or the schedules of the giant cast were too busy to be able to rush production so soon, or what's more likely is there is still some major re-writing to do to make this whole film work and tie in with the sequel, Justice League.
What's also highly likely is that they will film two movies back to back and therefore release Justice League in summer 2017.

That sounds so far away.

But, good, I guess... I was very worried about how rushed the scripts were. Looks like my concerns were justified.

Looks like 2015 will be WB's first year in awhile without a mega blockbuster now. Do they really expect Mad Max to be big enough to make Batman/Superman/Harry Potter type numbers?
Unless I'm missing something WB's 2015 big box office type films were going to be MOS2 and Mad Max. What now? They are not going to take a half billion dollar cut because of this, they have stockholders to answer to. Perhaps they will green lite something that can go into production quickly, or perhaps they will ask Peter Jackson to split up third Hobbit film into a fourth? ( hahahaha I'm joking, but who knows). This has happened before, Lethal Weapon 4 was green-lit and rushed into production when Superman Lives was canned.

It's a good sign that they realized that their eyes were bigger than their stomachs and held off.
My heart's not into another Superman reboot. And while I wasn't the biggest fan of MOS, I think they should be able to mount a comeback and make an even better part 2.

Or thats the excuse they are going with because they don't want to admit they need to polish the script up more.

I forgot about this one, but I find it hard to believe that Mad Max and Pan will replace the big box office gap from MOS2. It will be interesting to see if WB will greenlight something quickly or rush something else scheduled for 2016 to make a 2015 release. Also after the successful but not marvel sized success of MOS, what are WB going to do to keep the DC universe in the public eye for 2 1/2 more years? At this point movie goers are used to Marvel product hitting every 6-9 months. All WB has now is MOS, the blu ray had come out and now the 2016 release is far,far away. Do they expect CW tv series to fill that void? I'm all about taking longer for a more successful production, but I'm just wondering if this is part of a bigger game plan or if they are scrambling.

Probably scrambling. Fury Road is a 30 years later sequel and I wouldn't bet the farm on Pan doing big numbers. WB can say BvsS was planned all along but that's looking even more like bs. Plan my booty. Maybe it was an option on the table but this production was a rush job. It needed 3 years anyway. 2 years later superhero sequels often have big problems. They need more time to be developed. This delay just seems like them realizing they need more time to reevaluate a few things. Nail down some casting. Fix Goyers script because we all know it needs polishing. Maybe they'll rethink some casting too
I don't buy the Affleck broken leg rumor. It has to be more than that. They could work around his and the films schedule a bit and even use stand ins and stunt men for some stuff. Didn't Clooney suffer an injured or broken leg during part of Batman & Robins filming? His role had to be as big or bigger than Afflecks. If Batmans role was minor like some people claim they could have worked around an injury. A lot just doesn't add up.
