What would have been awesome in SIII is if a de-powered Zod Non and Ursa were in the welfare line along with Gus Gorman.
Zod coud have been the down and out brother who gave Gus a light.
I think it would have been a great way to link the two films.

I...
...actually kinda like that.
Or maybe a scene at the end with Ross Webster joining Zod, Lex, Otis, and Non. Maybe Otis and Non are playing checkers.

Stamp and company were so good as the villains, I would have liked to have seen them come back (if they had to keep the same story) in that 'dream sequence' with Supes vs. Supes.

On a first time viewing in 1983 THIS was my only disappointment......that Zod was not in SIII.....lol. I still enjoyed the flick though. Seeing Gus's machine push Supes back at the end: ...was powerful because it did not happen often.
Back in 83' SIII was still at the cutting edge(technology wise) which is all you can ask for. Time has not been kind to it but Spiderman 3 (2007) and Batman Begins(2005) are already starting to creak as they reach and surpass the 10 year thresh hold.

Batman Begins still holds up as a film even though some of the action sequences have been surpassed. As an origin story though it's still a great blueprint. Certain elements like the costume are looking dated though. There are things I love about that costume design and things I hate.
One of its weaknesses is it carried over certain design and material elements from the Burton/Schumacher era. By 2004/2005 you'd think Nolan could have modernized it while keeping the storyline basis of the suit (military combat armor). I guess you could say he did rethink it for Dadk Knight for that very reason but that's almost a different kind of costume and while I like that one too it got a bit away from Batman and into SWATman. It fits the gritty real world HEAT-esque nature of TDK though.
I think visually Spider-Man 3 holds up pretty well but structurally and tonally it feels like the product of a bygone era (pre Dark Knight/pre Iron Man) and is more dated than Batman Begins IMO. I guess because it's carrying on from a film series that started three years before Batman Begins. The opening battle between Peter and The New Goblin looks like sh!t though. I thought it looked like sh!t in the theater nine years ago so it's always looked bad. I remember it looking like bad video game cg.
I think these things tend to go for about a decade give or take before a new film comes along and raises the bar and sets the new standards and trends. Superman in 78, Batman in 89, Blade in 98, Iron Man and Dark Knight in 2008. It's almost ten year intervals. True X-Men and Spider-man blew the doors wide open for the modern 21s century comic book superhero movies we've had since but Blade was the first film of that era to turn things around. It was a complete 180 from the movies of the 90s in that it was very serious and respectful of the source material instead off wink wink tongue in cheek "it's a comic book movie" thinking.
Both DC and Marvels slates of films since 2008 have been influenced by The Dark Knight and Iron Man. They set the initial course and tone for those respective brands more than anything else only now we've had a few other films like Deadpool, Avengers, and GOTG add their influence too. That means if the pattern is right we are coming up on a new era of comic book movies sometime just before or after 2018. It sounds about right because the biggest ones yet in Avengers Infinity War and Justice League will be out by then.
I wonder what the next groundbreaking influential superhero movie will be?

I think in ways Deadpool was a groundbreaker.
Days of Future Past introduced the first time travel crossover with superheroes and a pre-existing cast from another (sort of) film series. (I wonder if this movie opened the door for time travel tv shows again)... And the 'ten year jumps' by the prequel cast series is new for superhero films.
Civil war, the first crossover with another studio's present property.
As far as a new superhero film that changes the game radically, though..... Perhaps Guardians of the Galaxy? That had a no-name cast and Guardians was a REALLY obscure Marvel title.
With so many heroes now, it's hard to point to any one specific movie now. I think Marvel as a brand in general is what everyone points to at studio conferences.

How hilarious would it be to see a de-powered Zod arguing with the clerk-lady about getting his welfare check!!!!!
Zod: You will give me my welfare check!! Both disability and then one day.... MY MEDICAID!!!!!!!!
Woman: You're no.. longer.. eligible!!!
Zod: You mean finished like over??? Huh!
