I mean I'm not suggesting he leave her at the north pole to die... but he shouldn't have felt obligated to take her all the way back at her apartment.
They weren't lovers anymore so Superman could have just dropped her off at the city limits and she could have taken a cab home.

Well, apparently the north pole is walkable to civilization without dying... look at a depowered Clark trekking it to the FOS. So, who knows? Plus, apparently arctic police have a road way that goes STRAIGHT to the FOS.

Come to think of it, Clark should have sent LOIS back to the Fortress to beg Jor-El for his powers back, it was her fault he lost them to begin with!

Why didn't he make her wait in the car while he ate in the diner in peace?

Well Chris Reeve has said repeatedly in multiple interviews that he wanted to portray Superman as a gentleman, so it wouldnt be very gentlemen like to leave her stranded & only take her half way home. Plus, hes Superman, so taking her an extra few miles is no sweat off his back.

Well we need to establish some quid-pro-quo here.... if Superman was gonna take Lois ALL THE WAY back home was was he going to get in return? I guess since his powers are back sex is out.... but can't Lois gives him some cash for his trouble? I mean why stop there? What if Lois needed to run some errands before going home... would Superman be OBLIGATED to take her to a bunch of stores before finally landing her back home? And speaking of being rude... did Lois even offer Superman a cup of tea or something when he took her home?
