D@mn. Roger Moore and now Adam West in less than a month? This one hurts, folks. Put Shatner under 24 hour observation.
Adam West was and always will be an iconic figure in Batman a history. For a long time he was THE Batman for a lot of people. From the 1966 series to the movie to filmations 1977 series to legends of the superheroes in 79 to Superfriends and superpowers in the mid 80s all the way to 2016s Return of the Caped Crusaders. No superhero actor has had a run quite like his and he always did it with his own brand of charm and cool.
He was one of the grandfathers of the genre as we know it today. Long before Reeve or Keaton there was West whose Batman was a bonafide pop culture icon. The mans a giant figure in my childhood and he will be missed. Thank you, Mr. West. Batmen come and go but few leave a legacy like you did.
West still has one last performance as the Batman in the pipeline and I'll be watching Batman vs Two Face on the first day of release. The Shat vs The Bat? Can't miss that.

What I love most is West's attitude and behavior publicly with the fans at large post-Batman- he seemed liked a gent and from what I read/hear, a positive spirit. He had a rough going after being typecast as Batman- "the Bright Knight" indeed. Sad going, but glad that he still got the love- (He actually was in a convention in town months ago, with a line out the door for his signature and photo).

Another tribute to West along with a certain other actor.
