It always seemed strange to me that Lois refused Rocky's generous offer to buy her food.
Why would anyone turn down a free meal?
When Clark returned from the bathroom, Lois could have said "Hey Clark this generous man offered to buy me my dinner? Isn't that fantastic?"
I'm sure Clark would have appreciated Rocky's generosity as well... would have saved him a few bucks at least.
Of course, Lois rudely turned down Rocky and then Clark tried to bully him out of his seat and the rest is history.

Well, he took a seat she said was taken and he called her “sweetheart.” Could tell he had something on his mind other than generosity when making that offer.

She lacked the presence of mind to take the free food and then stab him for sexual harassment. It was to end in violence anyway, she may as well have struck first.
On the other hand, Lois could have gotten the local student activist crowd to lay in the road to prevent Rocky from delivering his goods - but he loses his mind and turns them into roadkill.
It might have made a good movie - Rocky's Revenge ?
We should thrash out a plot in this thread and spend the next year trying to get Michael Thau to make it.

At least Reeve’s Clark handied his revenge better than Cavil’s Clark who had to turn that trucker’s truck into weird satanic tree art like he’s Edward Scissorhands getting back at the religious zealot. Maybe that wasn’t his truck at all...

What is wrong with calling Lois sweetheart? That was a nice thing to say. Rocky really just asked if he could buy Lois her meal... he was being a perfect gentleman. What was the problem here?

Maybe Lois knew too much about Rocky's affinity for Ron's "garbage". Might she have thought it best for her not to get drawn into it or to ask too many questions ?
Besides, if Clark saw Lois being fed by Rocky, the final diner scene may have become highly unsuitable for a young audience.

I say again, he took a seat she said was taken. You’re not exactly a “gentleman” if you ignore a lady’s request. You try going out and calling feisty independent women like Lois “sweetheart” and see how you turn out.
Rocky must have REALLY liked that seat since he was there when Clark came in there again, so I guess in his mind, they’re invading his territory.

Besides since when did that seat even belong to Clark? He never sat down on it at all.. he (quite rudely btw) immediately asked to use the can instead of at least sitting down and ordering first. What kind of joint did Clark think it was? Very disrespectful to Ron and Annie to think that all their establishment had to offer him was a god darn toilet.

Imagine Clark emerged from the toilet, saw Rocky sitting there, panicked, and bolted for the door with his pants round his ankles. It would look like he had abused customer facilities and left Lois red-faced - trying to explain the situation while fending off Rocky's ham-fisted advances !

Would Clark trek all the way to the fortress with his pants pooled around his ankles?

I dunno. Something polite, like when Superman first saved Lois. He didn’t call her “sweetheart” for sure.
Ron did put down a glass of water for Clark and she was at the end of the table, so there’s only one other place he’d sit.

Oh yeah I can imagine Superman catching Lois in midair and calling her "sweetheart" and Lois saying " I'm sorry but that's not an appropriate thing to say... please let go of me right now!" And how come Clark was standing on the OTHER side of Lois while Ron was trying to take his order? Why wasn't he anywhere NEAR his alleged seat?

Annie was taking the orders. He was getting close to his seat in the bathroom.

Annie was taking the orders. He was getting close to his seat in the bathroom. No Ron was taking the orders. He was making Annie take the order on his behalf because she was his slave... the joint belonged to Ron and Annie was the dutiful slave. And Clark's seat was the toilet.. Rocky said so himself.
