When you think about it, what "action" did paris really have? It's a generic as fuuuuck terrorist plot for one thing and it moves slow. There is even a shot of the terrorists saying "this is the BORING bit" And what Superman "action" is there? All Superman does is fly to Paris, catch the elevator and throw it into space... I don't see how that is so exciting or actiony . Contrast that to the DP jump, we see Clark use his SUPER SPEED, SUPER BREATH, HEAT VISION, SUPER BREATH, and SUPER SPEED again to save Lois. The DP jump has more Superman action even if Clark isn't technically in costume and I defy anyone to challenge me on this.

I would have liked to have seen him tackle the terrorists as well (It wouldn't have been too hard to have had a few of them already on the other level where the elevator stopped shooting at him and him taking him out) to juice that sequence up. With the DP jump, I was expecting to see what Donner originally had in mind for the 'superspeed fx' for that time frame- rather then the cheap 'blur' effect we've seen on Smallville a zillion times. For Clark's 'superbreath', I think there really needed to be a visual of 'fx breath' coming out of Clark's lips - again, probably similar to the 'freeze breath fx tech'- to juice up the DP jump sequence. On many fronts, I do wish that they had kept the DP jump for the theatrical, and used funds saved from reshooting Paris for the Metro battle instead.

No, freeze breath should have a graphical effect, but super breath doesn't not need anything added.
But how come sometimes the super breath is cold and other times it's just super strong breath?
I think Donner never intended freeze breath.. only strong breath.

I think Donner never intended freeze breath.. only strong breath. It might be 'more realistic' not to show Clark's superbreath fx visually- but since we also have people on the street not noticing Clark using his heat vision, I think it could improve the movie experience, using the fx look at that time.

Why didn't Clark just suck up Lois from the window to begin with?
Why run down the stairs and blow her upwards?

This is the scene if Donner had completed it in 1979. As you can see plenty of action in it. Lois survived her injuries, but had to have reconstructive surgery which made her look like a gaunt skeleton and had the rotting carcass of a dead rat sewn onto her head for hair. I STILL think you're Superman Clark! Lois, can't you see what you almost did? Throwing yourself of a building and turning into Rat-Lois can't you see what a tragic mistake you made?
