Same as Oscars. Oscars don't mean poop. They're pointless. Wait! My favorite movie won an Oscar? Yaaaaay! They deserve it! Go Oscars! Oscars are like Pulitzers. No-one remembers what you got them for. Just that you got them. Nice

I think most here are secure in our own opinions not to quote from random strangers on the net There's nothing insecure about appreciating & agreeing with comments that she found. Stop calling people insecure just because you disagree with them. Not so long ago, is was YOU Russ who went on & on about how all the people you knew int the real world disliked the film. Was that you being insecure? Or were you, just like us, simply stating fact? So, would the same be said about the people you quoted from your real world awhile ago? See, you want it both ways. When everyone you know hates the film, you are validated. When everyone we know likes the film, we are insecure. I see. ;D ;D ;D There's nothing insecure about appreciating & agreeing with comments that she found. It's more about why, & with whom you choose to piss back & forth with. Its only when certain people express appreciation for the film that you go into full on Ye5man mode. It's just an amusing observation. There's been plenty of times when you were pissing & moaning about SR & I've just rolled my eyes & said nothing. But the minute I & gazer & a few others every say ANYTHING positive about the film, you break yourself to call it poop, even though by your own admission you don't really think its that bad. Here's what I'm saying: I think that you piss on about it worse that you actually would, just because you think you are pissing off people you don't like. But hey, I could be wrong.

I'll cop to that.
However, plenty of great movies made no money, while plenty of poopty ones make gold.

In response to Kev, you're right. Box office means poop when it comes to the quality of a movie. However, it is great to see a movie that you love do well, because it ensures a sequel.
Likewise, Oscars really are meaningless, however, I am happy when something that I like wins one. Not because I suddenly think it means something to prove my point, but because I know it means something to the people involved with the film.
In other words, Oscars mean vagina to me, but I was happy to see how happy it made Peter Jackson & company OWN the Oscars with Return Of The King.
Know what I mean?

Actually, it was you that brought up the real world. I only mentioned my CoF. CoF is basically the thing we are talking about when we say "Real" world. You're splitting hairs. So, it was you who brought it up. I simply responded in kind.

I don't think anything either way.
I only know that locally, folks in my life dig it, & on the internet, its hated by many & loved by many.

Only if I am trying to use it to bolster my opinion. I wasnt. Other people's opinions have nothing to do with my like or dislike of the movie. Isnt it though?

Same here. Nobody I know gives a poop about it. However I do know people in the real World who like Star Wars prequels, so this "people in the real World bolster my opinions" crap is redundant. So then, all of the times you've mentioned that people you know in the real world who hate the movie, is redundant crap as well? Because I don't need anything to bolster my argument. My opinion is simply my opinion. Someone mentioned real world people, so, I responded. Not to bolster, but simply to respond.

Most people I know think that turning back time was bad the first time & even worse a second time.
Everybody loves the Brando bits though.

Not true for me.
Every fellow fan I know in the real world likes SR.
In fact, just the other day, I ran into an old friend who is now radio DJ & we always talk comic movies when we meet up & he was talking about how poopty is its that SR didn't get a sequel. Said he & his family just loved SR.
It's only on the net that I encounter the haters.

Point is, him enjoying seeing it on the TV, shows that he's having a good time with it.
And yes, I would rather have seen the scenes in the movie, instead of on the TVs. But the scene is fun as it is & makes it's point.

They showed him doing lots of rescues all over the TV sets in the Daily Planet, showing that he's back into the swing of things. Even giving a wave to the camera after putting out a fire. And then they show a fun little moment as Clark at the Planet where he's enjoying seeing it all on TV. Loved those scenes. I must say though, about the scene on TV where he can be seen stopping a Deli robbery on surveillance camera, I wish they had shown it for real, because he looks to be having a great time there as well

Nope. Made my own fan edit years ago.
Made it just the way I wanted it. I have to revise it now & add Return To Krypton.
But, as I said, I love it just the way I have it. And to me, that's all a fan cut is really about. Making it just they way you personally want it.
And since I'm on the subject, my cut does not open with Lex.
It opens on the Kent farm with Ma & Ben & it REALLY helps the feel of the movie. You'd probably like it a little better. I also added all the Clark on the Farm stuff. I love taking time out from the story & just getting to live in a characters skin for a little while. But, thats just me.
I cant wait to see it open with Return to Krypton.

See, there are reasons for the scenes. Its just up to you on whether you like them or not. I do, where as you do not. Simple as that. I agree to disagree

The film shouldn't be trying to explain things to a new generation, when it is so clearly trying to follow on from STM and S2. It assumes that viewers remember Marlon Brando as Jor El and that they are familiar with his speech on Krypton, even using it as the opening of SR. So why do those viewers need to be spoonfed Clark's backstory? Because it was showing you a period in his life we hadn't seen yet, & establishing something new with his eyesight/glasses. That & it's just really fracking fun. See my above statement. Not every scene in every good movie has to add to the story. Sometimes it can be fun, or romantic, or magical just for the sake of it. That & It DOES (For the 3rd time) add to the story. The part about his eyesight/glasses is new information. And I strongly disagree. Seriously dude? Seriously? That's all ya got? ;D He was obviously trying to feel out if he still had a shot with Lois or not. He simply wanted to go flying with his Ex-girlfriend with whom he is still madly in love. Jesus dude ;D ;D ;D The question he asked her was obviously rhetorical. It just had more impact for her to see everything that Superman has to watch over & that he has to hear each day of his life. You should at least stick to the parts that you really can pick apart. Like the lifting of New Krypton or whether or not you like him looking through the wall at Lois' house. Those are up for debate. I personally like them fine, but I can see why others might not. The scenes that you are picking at right now (For the sake of picking) are good & have answers to all your questions. I disagree & explained why above. I disagree & explained why above You're right, Superman should never take Lois flying again. ;D

It's a completely pointless scene. Like the flying with Lois scene, it adds nothing to the plot. BULL. frackING. poop. The flashback scene established (For a new generation) that he didn't develop some of his powers until puberty. Also, it has been suggested, that he actually needed glasses until that point. Something that was going to play into sequels with all of Jason's ailments. It also allowed us to see an age in Clark's life that hadn't been shown in the Donnerverse yet. On top of that, it's exciting & has a true sense of wonder & wide open spaces to it. As for the flight scene, it allows Superman to tell Lois and the world where he has been & why. It allows Superman to discover if Lois really loves Richard. It allows Superman to point out that the world does need Superman, to counter her article. And its just beautiful & romantic as heck.

So, if a SR defender just truly prefers it, it's biased.
But if a STM fan prefers it, it's ok.
Got it.
I honestly never notice them. I think Brandon looks great in it, except for the material constraining his muscle mass.
I think the SR haters, even the ones who don't really even hate it, just like focusing on & picking hard at things when they are arguing with people that they don't like, or it just baffles them for some reason that some people just truly love the movie. So, they feel this sad need to put it down & constantly, even if they don't hate it. It just bothers them when certain people love it.
Oh well.

you would have to be bat poop crazy to prefer the Routh costume to Reeve's. You would have to be bat poop crazy to prefer the Reeve costume to Routh's. See how simple that is? And how stupid it sounds either way? To put down people for liking what they like in a Superhero costume. So sad
