What books do you buy every month?

So, what comics do you buy every month? Feel free to make notes (as I did).

Action Comics (probation, as I'm never too sure about Greg Rucka)

Adventure Comics (a very likely maybe, especially if it's Geoff Johns writing the Legion)

Ambush Bug: Year None (only one issue left...I'm a sucker for Keith Giffen)

Astounding Wolf Man (Robert Kirkman's superhero werewolf book! Takes place in same universe as his superb "Invincible" series)

Batman And Robin (Grant Morrison, not Frank Miller)

Captain America (my favorite monthly?)

Ex Machina (another candidate...possibly coolest book since Preacher)

FC: Legion Of 3 Worlds

Flash: Rebirth

Green Lantern (another fave candidate)

Incredible Hercules (are you reading this? Why the heck not? Hilarious. Greg Pak is the future)

JSA (probably will drop when Johns and/or Ordway leaves in a month or so)

Lone Ranger (Dynamite's licensed books are AWESOME. Best take on the character ever. It's like Lone Ranger on Deadwood)

Madman (like I'm not gonna buy this?)

New Avengers (perpetually on probation. Despite my Bendis love, I don't like the way he writes these characters, and prefer his street level stuff)

Seaguy

Secret Six (easily, top 5 book. Villains!!!!)

Superman (currently by James Robinson and starring The Guardian and Mon-El)

Superman: Secret Origin (this is nice and all, but I really want Gary Frank and Geoff back on Action, pronto)

World Of New Krypton (love me that Pete Woods art)

Ultimate Spider-Man (for the first time EVER, on probation. Conceivably could be dropped without malice once Volume 2 starts up. Not sure I like what's going on in the Ultimate Universe, and would like to leave my Ultimate Spidey memories pristine)

Mainly IDW's Doctor Who Classics. No new stuff recently except for Doctor Who: The Whispering Gallery written by Leah Moore, which is a great issue BTW.

The only ones of those I grabbed were the Grant Morrison issues!!! Picked up a few issues of the regular title for my girl, as she's a HUGE Who fan (particular David), but she wasn't that impressed.

These ones, but both Superman and AC are on probation, as you say. ;D I just dont know if I'll care enough for those books without you know, Superman. I just mainly care about Superman, Lois, Ma Kent, and those really close to him.

I also read Superman/Batman. Just love the interaction betweeen those two and their crazy adventures. haha.

I stopped buying Superman/Batman after Loeb left. His whole run was pretty wacky and fun, though! For awhile it was the ONLY title featuring either of those characters that I was buying.

Yeah, I really want a TPB of those issues. I'd missed out on picking em up.

Ed McGuinness did the art for those S/B stories that Loeb wrote, right? All of them? I just can't get passed his art (especially the way he draws Supes). I absolutely and utterly despise it. And that prevents me from buying/reading those stories. I just can't help it.

though, I'm sure I'd read them IF I didn't have to pay for it.

I dunno how good a storyteller Loeb really is, but I loved Superman For All Seasons. I wasn't a big fan of the way Superman was drawn, but it grew on me. I liked the art in general. Very expressive. Tim Sale, right?

I'm really sure McGuinness' art will never grow on me, though. Sorry.

McGuinness only did the first 5 issues and the last 5, I think.

Personally, I love his art. Reminds me of the Bruce Timm animated stuff. But, it's not for everyone.

I pick up Daredevil every once in a while. I was a regular until Bendis left. You gotta love buying a Daredevil comic and Daredevil not being in it for 3-4 issues....and it's STILL a compelling story.

I can't stand McGuinness either. Or Frank Quietly for that matter.

I wasn't a fan of Frank Quitely's art either. I thought his Superman looked kinda weird at first, but it definitely grew on me. Oh yes. His Superman is so charming, intelligent, wise, confident, mythic and god-like. I guess it has a lot to do with how he is written in the book. Morrison did a great job. All-Star Superman is a very enjoyable book. I also liked how you can see a full range of emotion on Superman's face. Love it. I think Quitely is a great artist. I guess his art is not for everyone, like Valentine said.

Superman looked a bit too old and wrinkly for my tastes. seems to have calmed down a bit with it.
