Reading it now.
Holy crap this is the best stuff since any given Alex Ross book.
This guy is tying together real historical events & celebrities with the DC universe & making it all make PERFECT sense.
LOTS of late 1950's Red scare "Communist" Witch Hunts going on. Reminds me of something.....
Anyway, its just beyond cool so far.

Definitely one of the best DC graphic novels. And while Superman and Batman play important roles, more than anything else it's a Green Lantern/Martian Manhunter story. Which is awesome to see those character getting done and done well.
The Animated Movie of this is alright, but so much is cut out if you're read the graphic novel you can't help but feel a bit dissapointed.
Btw, have you read "Superman: Red Son"? It ties the DC Universe in with history quite well too, albeit an alternate one.

And I LOVE that Bats & Supes aint hogging the page. GL, & MMH deserve some love for sure. (Gotta love that Bugs Bunny bit) Ive heard that from everyone whos read & then seen. Is it still good though? Because Im willing to forgive cut stuff on animation because I know how constrained they are when it comes to budget & length. No, but Ive seen the art & action figures & it looks just awesome. So, I take it its a surefire that I should pick up?

There's a documentary on the Justice League that interesting enough in and of itself. Absolutely! It's a parallel universe so keep that in mind, but it's in very much the same style as New Frontier.

New Frontier is my single favorite thing DC has done in the last decade. Anything Darwyn Cooke does, I'll buy.
The animated movie is great. Despite the huge amount of stuff that gets cut out, the animation is SPECTACULAR. Easily the best animation ever associated with superheroes. It's like watching a "real" movie (as in, something you'd go see in the theaters).
Voice cast is top notch as well. It BURIES JLU in terms of overall quality, and you won't find a bigger JLU fan than me.

The score isn't to bad I think. I have it and it's quiet good.

The score ain't bad. It's better than the JLU music. Seriously, when you watch this, make some popcorn, and turn off the lights. The opening credit sequence alone will knock you the heck out.
And the way it ENDS! Wow. Chills. Almost brought a tear to my eye. Not kidding.

Can't wait to hear what you think. It's my single favorite DC project of the last decade or more.

Indeed! Post a full review (like you would with a film) when you get a chance. I read this as it came out, and I just LOVE watching other people experience it for the first time.
It's an absolute joy to read and look at. I'll buy anything Darwyn Cooke does now, all because of this!

Read the comic first. THEN watch the DVD. Then read the comic again.
It's inspiring. Not a word I usually use for comics, but one which should be associated more closely with them.

See it in High Def if you can, Mav. I have it on Bluray. It is BEAUTIFUL. It's really, really well done. Quite awesome. The book is better of course. Next, search out the Sinestro Corps War. HOLY F*CK.
