Really wanted to know how you guys feel about BAY directing the next Superman movie, whenever that will be...
You see, it is extremely difficult for me to understand, but there are actually people/fans out there who WANT him to direct a Superman movie... Yes, they someone think that the Bay "touch" is what Superman needs to succeed on the big screen in a big way..
In your opinion, Can BAY capture the essence of this character and deliver a GREAT Superman film? Can he do justice to this fantastic, wonderful and ICONIC character?
Let's discuss

Um, is this a joke? ;D
Isn't it kinda obvious? I don't think you'll find those "people/fans" on this board. ;D

I just imagine nothing but Superman bulge jokes throughout the entire movie.

It's NOT a joke, jim. I'm serious.
They have a thread on this at BTs and lots of people want him to direct (there is even a POLL), even those who were/are supposedly 'insulted' with Superman's bastard son, Superman spying Lois, Superman visiting his sleeping son at the end, a boring Lois, the 'horrible super-suit', etc. Yet somehow BAY can do justice to Supes on the big screen accordiing to them!!
If everybody in this board is against him, then I'd like to know exactly WHY.

If everybody in this board is against him, then I'd like to know exactly WHY. OK then. Michael Bay would not work for Superman because Bay makes his own things. In the case of Transformers, he only barely glazes over the mythology, and then he changes what he wants and makes it his own. There's nothing inherently wrong with that. The movie is his creation, and he's putting his stamp on it. Bay would do the same thing with Superman. Bay would do to the Superman mythology what he did with the Transformers mythology, like it or not. Bimbo Lois Lane and a crapload of explosions, woot. At least we wouldn't have to worry about a lack of action. ;D

There was a time, about five years ago, when I was actually excited about the Michael Bay rumors. I thought it could've been SWEET.
Then The Island and everything else happened and, ah...yeah...blegh...

If everybody in this board is against him, then I'd like to know exactly WHY. It all comes down to this one little word we all know and love; verisimilitude. We were blessed to have two great directors that had the passion to give us two and half great Superman flicks. Donner did it right the first time. It's a shame we never really got to see his true vision of Superman II. Singer did it right, too. It's a shame the Chimps are Warner's don't recognize how awesome Singer truly is. Bay will probably treat Superman the way Lester treated Supes III, just to the infinite power. Bay won't care about the character, he'll care about the key demographics and do what he's done to Transformers. I'm pretty sure his version of Superman will make a lot of money, but he will defecate on the mythos. You think Smallville is bad, just imagine what Bay will do to Superman.

It's quite simple, for every good Superman movie, you're going to get 30 years of runaround bullshit and bad ideas. Look forward to a good Superman movie around 2035.

Probably get some lame jokes about Krypto the Superdog going around and humping people or stray cats.
Since Brainiac is machine.. he'll probably have a set of balls also.
Megan Fox will be recast as Lois, wearing the same outfit from RofF.
If this were Micheal Bay from back when he did The Rock, I'd say heck yeah! Let him do it. But he makes crap movies now, so I don't want him anywhere near the Superman Franchise. You will be kissing a true american icon goodbye, because you'll never see the real Superman ever again.

Agreed, the Rock is the one great thing* that Bay has made to justify his stint in Hollywood. (*besides the Pearl Harbor trailer--- far more moving than the film that resulted)
Bay can make a great looking image, but he and McG seem to be cut from the same cloth. their films seem to be all flash, no substance, and proud of it.
*ugh*

I've always wanted to see Superman fly with a 360 degree shot in 40 different angles with 470 edits in between of irrelevant action.
Could work.
Especially if he had a flying sequence to The Backstreet Boys!! That'd be great!! Imagine "Backstreet's back, alright!!" WHOOOOSHHHHH!!!
Genius!

jimmy will be gay - and probably token-cliche-black.
lois will be a B*TCH and probably sleezy : megan fox.
luthor will be neurotic , 2-dimensional and will say " BAH! foiled again " at some point .
the costume will be GAWDAWFUL, i mean UGLY . probably have flaming underpants .
there will be peeing , masturbation , pot-smoking , fart-jokes , impotance-jokes , PUNS that hurt the brain , needless tangent side-characters for comedy-FAIL , self-loathing camp that will make richard lester look like a guy who WORSHIPPED superman , dodgy CGI , all the villains will look alike , EVERY ridiculous action-movie cliche' , shitty script ( retarded script ) .
when in doubt - EXPLOSION , then dick-joke....and SCENE! CUT!! PRINT!!!

FOX is SO overrated! She does nothing for me! NOTHING! It's just the Media, the marketing that "make" people, especially males, believe that she is HOT and the IT girl.

IMO Bay is the absolute worst director to do another Superman, except for Uwe Boll. Bay doesnt know "substance" if it kicked him in his groin. Other non-eligible directors are Bryan Singer, JJ Abrams, McG and Spielberg (although I like Spielberg, but not for Supes).
What the franchise needs is someone who is outside the studio box, who can get a good story alive on the screen and who dares to be different. Someone like Terry Gilliam or Tim Burton, but younger.

Well, at least Michael Bay knows how to infuse his action films with energy and excitement.
I know people like bashing his films, I've been guilty of it many years ago, but you know what? His movies are undeniably fun, action-packed, and filled with exciting music and visuals.
Shit, even Pearl Harbor was entertaining and that's one historically flawed film if there ever was one, apparently.
My girlfriend made me sit down and watch Bad Boys I and II, two films I refused to see back in the day. I was shocked that I enjoyed them.
And I bet you anything Bay will make people more excited about Superman than anyone has been able to in years.
