I just realized another small detail in Thau Donner Cut that is wrong. Remember when the villains go flying by the Washington Monument in that shot lifted from A Few Good Men? And it gets broken into 3 pieces.
Wouldn't happen.
The Washington Monument is not mortared together. It consists of cut stone stacked one on top of the other, and the only thing holding it together is gravity. Instead of it kinda folding over itself, it should actually have crumbled like a set of child's blocks being knocked down. And THAT would make for a cool shot for any of you editors reading.
Thought you'd enjoy a bit of pointless trivia for your day.

;D
In a movie where four people fly and have powers beyond those of mortal men, and women.
;D
But yes, you are correct.

More reason to hate the Donner Cut? Thank you sir. ;D
This is the movie that says:
"Clark has to be in his Superman suit to kiss Lois, even if his glasses are off" while at the same time it says "Toothpaste going back into the tube is hilarious! Let's reuse the ending from the first movie just so we can use that shot!"
You KNOW they only reused the first movie's ending just so they could use that shot of Perry White brushing his teeth. Mank wouldn't shut up about it.

You's guys get so excited about an unfinished film. ;D ;D ;D More like a series of deleted scenes presented in chronological order, oddly with chopped up portions of Superman II sprinkled throughout. It also seemed to be a showcase of The Dome Opens (Alternate). Strange.

More reason to hate the Donner Cut? Thank you sir. ;D This is the movie that says: "Clark has to be in his Superman suit to kiss Lois, even if his glasses are off" while at the same time it says "Toothpaste going back into the tube is hilarious! Mank wouldn't shut up about it. yeah - this has been a mantra of mine ; a LOT of thau/donner cut problems are not the fault of thau - but donner/mank. another beef i have is that the donner cut is maligned ( somewhat fairly ) sometimes leads people to think that donner being replaced is a " GOOD " thing. uh-uh . the donner superman II we should have had doesnt resemble EITHER version we have .

YOU can't put toothpaste back in the tube, but Superman can. It's smart, safe humor. Mank is great with the sly stuff. One would say it's....Alimentary, my dear Leiter.

I remember seeing Gandy's reconstruction of that scene. It sure would have been cool.

Thau incompetence and budget loyalty aside, he was part influenced by two men who probably approached this a little too light hearted for what (we felt) it deserved. They all probably said "hey we got a tight little budget, let's have some fun with this"
Still think all the Donner footage should have been included as a supplementary disc with the theatrical version. Thau could have done that solo.
That alone may have created even more demand for a much greater revisit with a larger budget. That would have been the ideal time to bring Dick and Mank onto the project.

Remember when we were all apprehensive that a new cut was being made without Donner? Also, remember when Thau said that Donner was indeed working on it personally? Sigh.
.....Hindsight is 20/20. ;D

Remember when we were all apprehensive that a new cut was being made without Donner? Also, remember when Thau said that Donner was indeed working on it personally? Sigh. .....Hindsight is 20/20. ;D we have to admit it. thau was instructed to cut things and to ...( shudder ) ...REuse the time warp ending.... if i dint love donner and mank so much....

Thau planted ideas in Donner's head and brain washed him into going along with his own ideas. ;D
