It seems variant covers are the rage again...what do you all thing about them? Personally, I like them...sort of. If there is a 50/50 cover I generally just pick the cover I like better...I think people have learned they do not have to buy every cover of every issue, especially with prices these days.
The problem I have is with the 1:10 or 1:15 or 1:25 covers...you can't find them! And if you do, the comic shop either hoards them or marks them up greatly. But I guess that is the point, to entice shops to order more of an issue so they can get an issue or two to mark up and get a great margin of profit.
Thoughts?

That's exactly what it is, an incentive for retailers to order more. Fine with me. I could care less about 'em myself, but if it helps my Local Comic Shop stay in business, then I'm fine with it.

Some RI covers are pretty good, like the doctor who ones. But unfortunately I'm the only one who orders them.

Okay, the 1st issue of the new Justice League has 54 different covers! If you've seen it, it's kind of like the marines at Iwo Jima...  ...but they have a cover with a flag of all 50 states plus USA, Puerto Rico, Washington DC, and one other (I do not recall). Kinda cool option for the hard core collectors...they can buy a set of all 54 covers for 'only' $150. That's roughly a $65 savings! |

Many titles bought through Comixology digital include all covers. The Shadow has at least three covers every isse. Ghostbusters used to do this, but quit. Superman and Action gave all variants.
