When it comes to powers in Smallville, I get really weirded out by his heat vision. It established that when Clark gets horny feelings, his eyes start shooting. (Oh, what a gloriously bad metaphor) When Lionel briefly took over Clark's body and gave Martha a hug, his eyes went off. Now THAT is funny (but quite dirty).
So in the heat of battle, does he have to picture Lana in a two piece or something?

Yeah, that's an element of Smallville that's particularly freaky. On another note, I actually liked Cain a lot in that incarnation of Superman- for tv, as sort of a 'Saturday morning live action kiddie show' version. To compare that Superman to the epic movies' Superman is a bit silly. But... a lot of older women seem to LOVE that version (and Cain with it). So, personally, I think it's cool that there are multiple versions of Superman out there to appeal to different demographics.....so long as it doesn't impede a continuation of the Routh/Singer version.

Hahaha.
Awww, lay off ol' Dean.
While he may not be my favorite Superman, (that designation will always go to Reeve, I think), I have to say that I quite enjoyed him in the part. One of the refreshing things about L&C for me at the time was that it seemed to focus on the Clark aspect of Superman's duality and I think that served Cain well because I thought he was a kickass Clark, (his Superman was ok).
For me, Superman actors are kinda like Bond actors. They've all done something with the part that I liked. There's no Bond actor that I thought was bad. Similarly, I think all the Supermans have been enjoyable.

I have (though few) fond memories of this show during my childhood. Looking at it now I cringe and giggle at the bad SFX, but it's still fun to watch.

Enrique...my main man!
As I always say about Bond. "There are no bad Bonds. Only bad Bond movies."
The SAME applies to Superman. However, some Supermen are more equal than others.

I'd take Dean Cain over Welling any day. Hmm, that's a really tough one for me. Neither one does it as Supes for me at all. If I had to choose between those two, I rather not make a Superman movie. I'd do a good animated Superman movie or tv cartoons. ;D Seriously.

I'd take Dean Cain over Welling any day. Aye. And Lois & CLark over Shitville any day. At least Lois & Clark was being INTENTIONALLY funny.

Yes, unintentionally it very much is.
Although after 8 years, its not so much unintentionally funny, as it is blindingly sad.

^^Well, believe it or not, I saw this poll over at Kryptonsite a few months ago, and they were asking what was better Smallville or the Superman movies, and a lot of the kids over said that they liked the movies a lot but that Smallville was, well, Smallville... implying that it was obviously better than the movies somehow... Bwahahahaha, ain't it really sad? That's what kids nowdays think Superman is all about.

Heres a lil perspective for you. Keep in mind these are broad generalizations. Take a look at the kinds of message board/followings these different incarnations of Superman have:
Smallville - 15 year old girls who say things like: "OMG Clark is SOOOOOOOO hot! I cant wait until he & Lana get married!!!! Lex & Clark BFF!!!!!!!" And guys our age whos only recourse is to say "Hey, at least its Superman!" (Which its not)
Lois & Clark - Fat bored housewives. See the Zoomway board.
Superman comic book sites - Fanboys who hate everything.
Real Superman Movies - Us. Intelligent people who can articulate what we like & dislike about the Superman movies.

I dunno, I like Smallville. I gotta say, this season has turned out to be quite good. I think getting rid of Kreuk and Rosenbaum has given the show new life. I hope it ends at the end of this season, if they drag for another year I won't be watching. This coming from a guy that considers STM one of the best movie ever made.

Keep in mind, Im not saying all Smallville & Lois & Clark fans are that way, but thats how the majority of their fanbases come off on their respective message boards.

Another thing I read over at Kryptonsite that left me totally cold was what this girl said in one of the threads. She said that she felt really offended by SR cuz Clark/Supes true love was... Lois... WTF? Yeah, she apparently thought that Lana was Clark's true love in the Superman mythology... Thanks Smallville...

Well, AT THAT TIME in the Superman timeline, Lana was the love of Superman's life. Or at least, his first true love. I always liked Lana more than Lois anyway.

Lana did like Clark for Clark. And, Annette O'Toole is hotter than Kidder. Although Kidder was cute for the first Supes movie. Then she became a rat. Smallville just portrays Lana in a very bad way. I never blamed Kreuk for this, like Welling, the bad writing has a lot to do with it.

recently Ive been catching up on the new adventures of superman..what a great series!! I use to love it back in the day, an now I still love it. for its time it was such a great series. fair enough the visuals werent the best an some of the stories abit cheesy, but the characters were perfect. Every week guaranteed a great dose of sups savin the day.
image if they made a new one these days, the money that goes into smallville they could make a great new ep of lois and Clark, what do you guys think???

I enjoyed the first season. It was really really good.
But then the showrunner left, and things quickly went downhill. Season 2 was decent, but 3 and 4 were just awful. The bait-and-switch wedding and the frog-eating and the amnesia killed the show. I can't blame ABC for pulling the plug.
But again, season 1 was kickass. John Shea as Lex Luthor was great. A much better big-business Lex Luthor that Rosenbaum never got to be. But then....he jumped off a building and (mostly) died.

This show gets a bad rep around here, but I really enjoy it. The later seasons are tough for me to get through, but Season One is TREMENDOUS. Smart, funny, sexy, hip. All of it. I even enjoy a good chunk of season 2.
Cain did a fine job. Hatcher is conceivably the best Lois ever. Shea did a bang-up job as Lex. Haven't watched in YEARS, but now I'm getting the itch!

What Val said.
To add: I really enjoyed Cain's Clark Kent. I would've liked Spacey's Lex to be more like Shea.
