^Thank you. Yeah, you know, botz.... I happen to like the SR suit a lot. So your opinion is just that, yours, Not law. On Reeve's acting. He could act, no doubt, but I still haven't seen him in anything to consider him that great an actor either... he wasn't exactly good in SIV.. And was he ever nominated for best actor or something and I didn't know about? Same with Brandon, who I've seen in some projects and I really like his work; he's doing a great job in Chuck, for instance, IMO. I also liked him in Zach and Miri and in some other smaller projects. I think he could become a great actor with more experience. Only time will tell.. so yeah, not everybody needs to be a Julliard trained, I don't think so. Some actors are more naturalistic and intuitive. So far, it seems to me that the best actor to don the suit was George Reeves. But that's just me.

I hope everyone appreciates the irony that it's been 4 years, and SR never got a sequel, while Warlock got a sequel within 3 years.

I thought Reeve was the best thing about SIV- There were a couple of moments that I had trouble with (usually it's with Superman screaming and yelling for villains to stop), but the sincerity of the performance I greatly enjoyed: he was trying his best, he wasn't sleeping through it (for someone who's difficult and sleeps through a paycheck, listen to the Blade 3 commentary by Goyer on working with Wesley Snipes)--- but I still think that the performance was strong otherwise, despite the cheap production values. I'll still feel that the movie was interesting failure, because the heart was in the right place, even if just about nothing else was. What I admire about Reeve most is his spirit post-accident--- a lot of people in the same situation might have become recluses (easy to understand and sympathize with that position, too--- have to be in that situation really to judge, I would think) in his situation, but he didn't, and worked to bring progress on a great cause. ((*Although some critics argue he was being selfish--- but who ISN'T selfish on this planet? There's the kind of selfish that helps others, and the kind of selfish that tears others down, but that's another rant- sorry for the tangent)) Before Reeve's accident, I admired his work ethic towards his art. That he strived to play roles that didn't necessarily make him look flattering or popular (The smarmy villain in Deathtrap, the bad Pastor in Monsignor) made him someone that I admired in that respect. It's not a knock on Routh: Actors I've found out get into acting for all sorts of different reasons and I just don't know enough about Routh..... but who can knock trying to get better and better by training and taking classes? In any case, you know I'm in the camp of WANT ROUTH back for Supes.... but on another level, while it's not fair to compare lives and careers with Reeve, it's sort of inevitable on some matters. But- for my own two cents, I sure hope that Routh is using his time carefully as stardom's fleeting for everyone, and it would be nice to see Routh stick around for awhile in some form or fashion. Theatre never hurts.... (except the audience at times) .

When it comes to Supes and the cinematic ‘challenges’ since Superman II, I think DC/Warners owe it to themselves and the legion of fans to experiment a little before they re-launch the franchise.
Personally I’d like to see them take a Beowulf approach, but something that goes straight to DVD. Get the marketing machine behind it and test the water for gods sake. It’s not strictly live action nor is it traditional cartoon/animation. Play around with a different tone, lesser known enemies and a more ambitious plot.
With the studios it’s all about the dollars and cents, this’d be a more cost effective option in the short term and a solid indicator of whether a new approach would appeal on a grander scale (big screen/live action)
Take the time, spend wisely, get it right.
My two cents.

If a film is popular with its audience, gets rave reviews from the critics and makes a good return on investment, then a sequel is both natural and essential. Hence why Warlock continued into a successful franchise; not only cinematically, but also into others mediums such as comics and videogames.

Steady on, Jim. Twelve-fifty was Julian Sands' fee alone. The whole production probably ran up something in the region of about $18.

Reeve's first love was stage work.
Has Routh ever acted on the stage?
and let's face it, in Routh's only big role he blatantly used Reeve as a template anyway.

Hopefully we'll get a proper reboot now with Nolan in charge.
Any ideas on who should direct it?

David Lynch.
Failing that, perhaps David Cronenberg could do a good job.

Hopefully we'll get a proper reboot now with Nolan in charge. Any ideas on who should direct it? Louis Leterrier ( director of HULK) is interested in the proyect and can be a perfect director for superman.

Would Michael Thau be a good choice to direct?
If he's free from Donner/Mankiewicz interfering, and left to do his own thing, he could be good.

Routh has a very small chance of returning but Singer definitely won't be back. He already made HIS Superman movie and it wasn't accepted. So, if he came back, he'd be Nolan and WB's puppet and he's got too much clout in the industry to settle for that. Plus, he's back on board the X-Men franchise again which he probably should have never left.

Yeah but if he really pulled it off, he'd get enormous respect.
Plus, only a fucking moron would want him to suck if he did get the role
