Lots of love for Brandon's Superman on twitter People didn't want Routh (or any actor) for a new Supes 6 years ago saying Reeve is the only Superman. People didn't want Reeve in the role in the 70s saying George Reeves was the only Superman. People didn't want Dan Craig as Bond saying they wanted Pierce back. People are fucking retards who cannot move with the times, or give new interpretations a chance.

Since Cavill's there, he'll have his chance once the movie is out. The only reason there's so much frustration is that Routh is definitely still available for the role and should have gotten a chance to come back, while still in his prime. I'm definitely seeing the movie, even if they decide to swap roles, and decide to make Cavill Perry White and Fishburne as Superman. I'll always be frustrated that Singer's MOS didn't come out, but rather than having NOTHING, I'm hoping/wanting to be able to see a new Superman movie exist where I can enjoy on some levels, if it's not going to replace what I think we would have had with an SR sequel. I just want Cavill to get a new haircut and wear some underpants, fer heavens' sake.

I'm hardly the only one who think the new Superman looks too dark, lots of people on twitter, ew.com and other sites think so too. These are just some tweets: EliasToufexis Elias Toufexis A lot of people saying Brandon Routh fit the character better. I tend to agree. Superman needs that boy scout look. Innocent with power.
GeorgeWebster George Webster @eliastoufexis I agree, Tom Welling has that same boy scout essence. Superman doesn't need to be dark and gritty which Henry seems to embody

Well, you know that I want Routh back (heck, I want SINGER back too), but since we're stuck with Cavill, I say why not at least see how he is in the movie first, before making a final call. The image does make him look sinister, but he could be fine in the film.

Comparing Routh's entire performance to a picture! There are some issues I have with the pic...the dark color, the long-ass cape. But I wouldn't comment on whether or not this guy is right for the role until I actually SEE the role.

I'm a Superman fan in general (I like some of the comics, movies and cartoons), but I Don't HAVE to like everything they do with the character.

I love the Reeve movies, but Superman isn't a religion to me. I can accept different takes on the character, as long as they basically portray him as a good-hearted protector of humanity.
heck, if they want to ditch some of the doe-eyed idealism, I can even live with that. Superman wasn't always an "aw, shucks" kind of character, anyway. I don't want to see a pissed-off angsty Superman, and he should always be a good man with good friends who does right by everyone, but he doesn't have to be completely warm and cuddly either. It'll be sort of like the new Star Trek films, hopefully; they played fast and loose with the idealism of the original series, but they still got the important stuff (a team of colleagues, bound by friendship, journeying across the stars and overcoming hardships) right. And if you don't like the new Trek, you still have 10 movies and 30+ seasons of television you can enjoy. That's what I'm hoping for from Man of Steel.
Other than getting the character right, I just hope they'll remember that a movie featuring a flying Hercules fighting evildoers should be fun. It can have weight, but it should be escapist and fantastic at its core.
Some of you think he looks sinister in that picture. I just think he looks determined and resolute, in a different way than Reeve. You say tuh-may-to, I say tuh-mah-to.

i say to-ma-te and i agree.
i am all for abrahams to be the new director at the last minute (a miracle) since i liked so much what he did with star trek regarding marketability of the mythos.
hypercharge the core of what superman means (not only donnerverse) for a bigger audience - fast pace, gorgeous visuals, lots of different emotions and battles.
snyder wont do a boring movie. i fear for the script.
the core is still ALWAYS a good script in which we can understand what are the motivations of the characters or at least get what the heck is going on!!
i dont want it to be perfect, just ok.

I agree.... and I find reasons to fear for both the script AND the director.
Goyer is/was a great idea man, but his "Blade 3" and "Blade- tv show" was pretty lacking... and he was the man in charge! But, team him up with a good filmmaker, and the movie can shine.
Snyder took what's considered classic source material in Watchmen and kind of ruined a good chunk of it in the drama department. Then he did "Sucker Punch".
Nolan's involvement seems to be one of the few things everyone seems to have faith in.......but the fact that we're not sure how much involvement gives everyone jitters. Nobody seems to have 100% faith in anything else tied to this. (Despite a lot of people seeming to like Cavill as Supes)

That whole scene was pointless. Lois couldn't hear any of the people calling for help, so what was the point of taking her up to listen to them? He could have just told her on the roof that he hears everything!

Another homage to STM
Next time I watch SR all the way through, I'm gonna take a shot of whiskey every time STM is ripped off in any form.
