I read the review and it sounds like Ebert doesn't know what he's talking about.
It was my understanding when Clark was gone for 12 years learning with Jor'El, that's when he learned everything.
A couple other things in there made me kind of like wtf he talking about?

This review is a weird (definitely all over the place) revision to the one that Ebert wrote when the movie FIRST came out. The one that came out (pity that they didn't archive it on the website) by Ebert when he first saw it was similar to a standing ovation.
This one is far less complimentary than the original review & it's hard to figure out what he's interested in talking about here. *sigh*

Nice to see crazy talk from the wife (again. At least should be the same wife) Hard to believe she nearly stabbed Mank at that dinner! Thank god that Marlon Brando stopped her. Sounds like a nutty lady.

Yeah- 741-742. Thanks for putting this up, was nice to revisit the original (and much better) review of STM that Ebert did back in the day.
His "Superman II" review that immediately follows on his site is trimmed a bit, but isn't updated otherwise. Given how enthusiastic he was originally for STM/SII.... suprised that he gave such little attention on the revised writeups (and the re-edit... could find no review from him on the re-edit) since then.

I like Ebert, but the guy has no fucking clue what hes talking abut when it comes to Super Heroes. i feel bad for what happened to him, but i always thought he was an overrated egotistical prick. if you can't " do", then teach. if you can't teach, teach gym class. if you can't act/film/edit/produce/write scripts, then be a critic. honestly, these guys are payed to bitch about movies. we do it for free all the time. once ebert said ROTS was better than the original star wars.... screw 'em. |
