That was beautiful! And dark looking. Funny that people don't have a problem with the darker suit and the way his hair is styled. And some of those comments on that site are retarded, imo.

Well, it's clearly inspired by the Fleischer cartoons, which favored a darker palette for Superman's costume. The SR suit was definitely influenced by the Fleischer design.

altogether pretty sweet, i gotta say. Getting john newton to voice clark/supes is pretty sweet too.
Yeah, the suit's darker and the character design of superman looks a bit runt-ish, but hey, I could nitpick all day out of what was a small passion project. in the end, it's an interesting take.
And the serial music just makes anything look great. You could show me footage of sleeping kittens with that music in the background and have me excited with it.

Golden Age Superman isn't a huge guy. In the late 30s/early 40s, Supes looks like he's 5'10, tops! Same thing with the Fleischer cartoons. He's barely bigger than Lois.
Keith Giffen tends to draw Supes like that as well. He draws him as a compact guy, with powerful shoulders and legs, kinda like a wrestler (an ACTUAL wrestler, not a WWE wrestler) or a circus strongman. I realize that's not the generally accepted Superman build, but it's kinda refreshing to see sometimes.
I like seeing a Superman who looks ATHLETIC and not necessarily huge. Routh had a great athletic build without being overly musclebound. Reeve was pretty big, but it bespoke strength (I always point to the burglar scene from STM where Reeve TOWERS over the burglar and the cop, and manages to not look ridiculous even though he's wearing tights). Kirk Alyn wasn't big at all, but he was athletic like a gymnast or a dancer, and it worked for the more physical golden age style Superman, etc.

It was done by a Disney animator.. maybe Disney should make the new Superman Movie..
But might be something to talk about for a another thread..
Back to topic, that video kicks all kinds of ass. I would love to see more!

I wonder if this a sort of 'teaser'...How come Disney got the rights from WB. Could they be testing the waters for a feature or series after Smallville is done?
Here's hoping...

I want more!!! That was pretty sweet. I love how the S curl just pops out like that, that was funny lol. This guy needs to do add10-15 more mins to it and finish off this short. Looks like it would be awesome to see them battling it out.

I love these. The new one is great. I love the character models. Really dynamic. The backgrounds and music help create the right atmosphere. Working the Adventures of Superman theme in there was a nice touch.
I could watch as whole animated movie exactly like these but they might work best in short form. WB should hire this guy to do a series of 5 minute shorts.

In that little featurette at the end though, when he introduces John Newton as the voice of Superman, isn't that Gerard Christopher they show on the magazine cover?

These shorts are really great, hopefully he got a good enough response that he keeps making them.
It was also released in 3d using the classic anaglyph 3d.

Agreed- these are amazing! It also puts out a sense of fun that I actually thought STAS lacked at times. I don't want animated series to be totally campy, but JLU I thought loosened up a bit to add more humor to the dc animated superheroes that sometimes gets lots when they take it a little TOO seriously....
