With WB going to lose the rights.. or partial rights.. (I'm not sure what it is) OR, even if WB had the rights..
We all know that WB doesn't know what the heck to do with the property of Superman. They had it right with STM, SII (for the most part) and SR (for some fans). But Superman has been in development heck for years with Burton, Cage, McG, and everyone else. It took them 10 years and millions of dollars to come up with something that finally looked like Superman.
So...
Who do you think would be a good company to handle the Superman Property? Do you think FOX would be good? Paramount? Sony? Universal?
I've always wondered if someone else could put out quality Superman movies every few years like Bond, and have it be good entertaining family fun with a touch of seriousness and good story telling for everyone.
Disney would be good.. if they went the in the style of PotC movies. (good stories, good actors, good FX's)
What do you think?

Agreed.
Disney/Pixar.
Brad Bird directing.
Want. Right now.
You give me a Superman movie that's as good as The Incredibles or UP, and I'll see it 6 times (I saw SR 3 or 4), and buy multiple copies to give as gifts on holidays and birthdays.

Definately! However, I think the rights thing is being settled. My guess is WB will get first rights of refusal with it. They'd HAVE to. Like, S&S sold Superman for $300 but got paid $75,000 a year in the 1940's! Even though Action Comics were making a ton of money, they chose to sell it. If we do $1 in perpetuity for 70 odd years it works out at about $1,200,000 per year. That is nothing to cry about in my opinion. OK they sold the rights. Deal with it. Sure they also settled the Superboy rights yet now they want it back. A company paid both men near $100,000 for the rights are a court battle and both men, although making a ton of money, settled. Now the estate wants it back. My arse.
Since thats the way it's going though DC & WB would definately have to have first refusal. It will go nowhere!

Yup. Pixar/Disney.
Jesus CHRIST. Imagine that. Fuck. No, nevermind. Don't imagine that.
We're getting Super300man.

Since Disney owns Marvel now, this is unlikely/impossible.
But in the meantime, I'd gladly take Pixar versions of Fantastic Four and Spider-Man over ANY live-action incarnation we're ever likely to see.

How come WB let Disney do this excellent short we have all seen on here?

This is just a fan thing, it happens to have been done by a Disney animator, but it's not official. As long as he's not trying to sell it, they can't stop him.

Well- it could run either way. Maybe Disney will buy out DC as well, and it'll all be a moot point.

in the early 80's that'd been ok. I guess so, although he was already losing it by '83. Thank god Lucas didn't ever get involved with a Superman film because then we'd have gotten a sequel with too much bluescreen, overuse of CGI, poor acting, lame dialogue, crap story and a wooden actress. Oh wait.....
