Just watched it there. Not sure what to make of it. Definately in the weaker end I think but it might grow on me with a second viewing. Felt it tried to get far too much into from Morrisons series. Voice acting was pretty good. I enjoyed them all. Wish they would just keep the continuity instead of doing different voice actors all the time but I did enjoy these.
Spoilers: There was absolutely no need for the Kryptonian arstranouts. None whatsoever. They were in it for 6 minutes then gone, done and dusted. Pointless tbh!
Clark dies then comes back at the end. Didn't Morrison write that he meets Jor-El and is given a choice? Would have been a better approach to it.
Superman's Robots! Not sure what to make of it here. One of them betrayed him?? They're robots. It felt weak.
A few other weak plot points but I did enjoy it for what it was worth.

Yeah, I'm excited for this, but very skeptical.
All Star Superman is, pretty much hands down, the best Superman story I've read in at least 15 years. I know there's no way they can do it justice in a 75 minute animated movie. Still, I'd be a dope not to check this out!

75 minutes only? I have to admit I've never checked the running time on these DC animated films. I was assuming 90. Geez. ;p

Probably episodes of JL or JLU or STAS. A preview of the next DC animated movie. A behind the scenes of All Star Superman.

It's 76 mins long! I'll still buy it cos I want them to keep making them but I'd rather they made Batman and Superman one's only and included other characters into their movies like the short Black Adam. It was very good!

I actually thought it was an excellent interpretation of the comic. For it's running time it did alot and accomplished alot. Sure a couple of the plotlines from the comics had to be excised, but that is to be expected. I am surprised that they fit in as much as they did. Plus recreating so many of the panels and covers from the comic was just awesome. Now I do agree that I am tainted as far as having read the comic multiple times. In truth the movie probably wouldn't work as well for someone who hasn't read it. But, it was very well done, and couldn't be a more faithful adaptation given it's running time. I highly recommend for any superman fan. Oh if only they could have adapted the death of superman storyline as faithfully. At least there is the Doomsday and beyond bbc radio drama.

I actually really enjoyed it, especially the end. That's who Superman is to me, selfless even in the face of iinsurmountable odds. I am defintley planning on picking this up on Blu-ray.

I bought it on Blu Ray for 17.99 the other day at Target, haven't seen it yet though. Hopefully within the next day or two I'll be checking it out.

Oh, this was good. Very fun. What an ending. I dug Denton. He had a softness to his portrayal that hasn't really been heard since Reeve did it in the movies.
I must finish reading this sometime.

Nah, James Denton from Desperate Housewives. Gives Superman a much needed human quality rather than straight laced "Must be Superman at all times!" voice.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. if this is not the best of the current DC animated films, it is the best that features superman. it may not be definitive superman, but it will be definitive lex luthor. best luthor i have seen since the timm-verse, and lapaglia's voicing is superb. i simply adore it. grant morrison clearly "gets'' superman. he proves with this narrative- which a huge amount of kudos go to the screenwriter duane mcduffie, who tragically died right after this came out - this narrative proves that you CAN (and therefore should) have a superman that is a SAINT- noble, god-like and STILL have a compelling gritty exciting story for a modern audience. the bulk of the story is really about lex, and his arc. again, a definitive luthor story. peppered through it are a few sub-plots (selected from the better among several subplots in the comic ) that give us all kinds of krypton-lore, the parasite, the fortress ( the key to the fortress- you'll laugh your ass off ;D ) and lex practically steals this movie. my favorite sequence is clark and lex together- and the dialog is brilliant. which brings me to clark kent- here's a great way to use the clumsy-clark in a way that isn't campy or comedic. what was impressive to me was the way clrak's "blunders" were actually well-thought out as mechanisms for superman to pull quiet little rescues here and there, and get a little come-uppance for the occasional heel. theres a delicious domino-effect when clark trips on something or breaks something. very cool. GO. WATCH.

I've noticed that the response to this has been very mixed. But I'll give it a rent because I loved the comicbook. Good to hear that some here really liked it.

Seen this last night.. Oh my god! This was absolutely awessome.
If we could get a three of 4 movie arc with this story, obviously add a little more in there to make a series of movies, this would be the greatest thing ever.
Why can't WB let the guys in charge of the DC Animated features be in charge for the DC live action features? It would blow everything away.
I want to watch it again, the movie is just so good. Jor-L nailed everything in his review.
I've never read the comic for this, but I think I'm gonna have to check it out now.. is it available in Graphic Novel?

Keith, you can get the complete 12 issue series in hardcover and paperback. It's amazing. It's pretty much the best Superman story of the last 20 years...maybe more. I actually choked up a couple times reading it. Still haven't seen this movie.

ok, we recently watched
SUPERMAN/BATMAN public enemies ALL STAR SUPERMAN and a couple S:TAS eps.
back-to-back.
with the public enemies, we had a LOT of fun. it's actually good, would make a great feature live action film, but needs streamlined. you HAVE to be a geek to understand all of it.
the middle act turns into a who's who of the DCU, literally dozens of characters walk in and out, with no explanations, just to have a scene getting thier ass kicked by superman. it gets ridiculous. but overall i still really like it.
on the other hand, all star superman is much more lofty. it's a different animal. whereas public enemies goes right for the spectacle and candy, all star is...well, majestic.
i think it's my current fave- tied with timm verse.
