the way this was presented, and the single panel that was leaked- NOTHING will persuade me this was NOT a publicity stunt. but i've looked into this, and it sounds like Goyer was doing a "Bourne identity" meets superman- the Government actually had snipers on superman while telling him to get in line with the president ( kryptonite bullets!) now, what stuns me is that it was published NOW- with obama as president. if it was "evil administration drives away hero" when Bush was pres i would have understood the "cause-celeb". but- is Goyer actually libertarian? to flat-out suggest that THIS administration would shoot superman with kryptonite for making trouble?  that ...is ballsy. i'm still not cool with this dialog that was used- but it is ..interesting. |

Well, the American Way these days is to work two jobs to make the money of the one job you used to have ... right before the American corporation you worked for ship the job to India for a fraction of your pay.
Right now, the American Way is that we have the freedom of constantly being fucked by our government and business leaders, whose decisions only seem to benefit their bottom line rather than the health of the country.
Yeah, like Carlin said, "They call it the American Dream because you have to be asleep to believe it."

Anyone else reminded of the time Spidey revealed his identity and registered as a superhero with the government? Yeah, this Superman thing sounds about as stupid.

I hear what you're saying- on the surface, sounds pretty dumb for a fantasy character to deal with such issues- but over time, I've found different ideas in comics that I thought would turn out great be laughable and ideas that sound incredibly lame actually get executed well- So- in my opinion, it's all in the execution of the idea (for the most part).... |
