These are the rules: You can pick anyone who has every played a key Superman role, in any LIVE ACTION medium, and you can put them, in their prime, with anyone else who has done the same. You are going to assemble them however you'd like. This is not a "dream casting" as you can only choose people who have played the roles already. If someone has played more than one role (as in O'Toole, Stamp, etc) you can choose which one you want them for.
You don't even necessarily have to pick your FAVORITES, you can put the cast together based on how well you think they'd work together. It's up to you. Here's mine...
Superman/Clark: Gerard Christopher (look, EVERYONE here is gonna pick Reeve or Routh, I'm just trying to be different. Whatever. It should be Reeve. Shut up.)
Lois Lane: Erica Durance (or Teri Hatcher)
Lex Luthor: Michael Rosenbaum (or John Shea)
Lana Lang: Stacy Haiduk
Perry White: Jackie Cooper
Jimmy Olsen: Jack Larson
Jor-El: Marlon Brando
Jonathan Kent: Jon Schneider
Martha Kent: Annette O'Toole

Nice Idea.  Alrighty then, I'll come up with a list: Superman/Clark Kent: George Reeves Lois Lane: Phyllis Coates Jimmy Olsen: Michael Landes Perry White: Lane Smith Lex Luthor: Kevin Spacey Jonathan Kent: Glenn Ford Martha Kent: K Callan Basically A No-Nonsense Superman with a common man approach to Clark working with a No Nonsense and confident Lois. A jimmy with earnest, but not a complete pushover, best o work with a down to earth Perry. A Lex Luthor with an edge to compete against a Superman that isn't easily phased. A realistic Jonathan to balance a free spirited but kind Martha. It kind of works, I think. Odd that most of my choices did not include actors from Superman: The Movie. Just one, and a minor role even. I think this works, for now. Of course It'd depend on the script to fit em all together, but as performances alone, I think Its a nice "what-if". |

Mine is more of a "what if..." cast and not necessarily the ultimate cast, so hope you don't mind: Superman Clark Kent: James Caviezel (Never got to see him as Supes but thought he would've been great when he was younger) Lois Lane: Rachel McAdams (Felt she would've been a decent choice for MoS) Lex Luthor: Billy Zane (Think he would suit the Luthor role, especially with his Bald look  ) Jimm Olsen: Shia LaBeouf (Yes.. I said it. Shia love him or hate him, but thought he'd slot in well for that part ;D) Perry White: Hugh Laurie (I think his House character would work well here, without the walking stick and limp obviously) Jor-El: Anthony Hopkins (Would've been a great choice when he was slightly younger) Jonathan Kent: Jeff Bridges (Was hoping he'd secure the part for MoS but didn't - would've been a great Jonathan!) Martha Kent: Susan Sarandon (Brilliant actress who would suit the part well I think) And... Zod: Viggo Mortensen (Would make a great Zod in my opinion) |

Tell you what I'd LOVE to see is the cast of Superman Returns, the exact same, except Erica Durance would be Lois, in a movie where they ALL actually DO SOMETHING and seem ALIVE and PURPOSEFUL.
My dream Superman movie would have that cast in an action adventure epic that scales the globe and beyond. Shit, basically, I'd love to see that cast in an adaptation of the animated series. Seeing that stuff come to life with that cast would be my ULTIMATE Superman movie, I'd have to say.

i am....altering the rules for this post:
if i win the POWERBALL lottery, i will IMMEDIATELY go into themovie business, i would spend my own money, no investors needed and hire people to make a movie I want.
and it will rock your mind and soul.
so, if i come into money this is what you will see:
superman : brandon routh
jimmy : sam huntington
perry : frank langella
lois : rachel mcadams ( not hating on bosworth, but she won't be in without spacey)
first film superman vs metallo ( seed superman III with darksied minions upgrading metallo in epilog ). metallo createdby luthor.
second film : amalgamise " kingdom come" / "the kindom" and "thy kingdom come " superman is in various timelines fighting gog and rogue heroes. EPIC.
epilog has kalibak and super-metallo show up. big cliffhanger.
third film : superman vs kalibak, supeman wins.
2nd act, super-metallo nearly kills superman, desaad uses kal-el's blood to make bizzaro.
superman recovers, destroys metallo. buries his brain-in-ajar at the center of the moon.
fourth film: darksied's bizzaro, NOT a super-retard, more frankenstien like ravages earth superman narrowly defeats him
the NEW GODS arrive to recruit superman to join in a war against apokolips.
lots of carnage. origin of new gods explained, orion kills darksied after superman softens him up, superman jets all over earth to defeat steppenwolf and the parademon army.
fifth film : ZOD.
sixth film : prequel/sequel mix (like godfather II)
"superboy" thinks he's ready to go public, encounters the LEGION. spends time in the future , meets a viallin, say a latter-day brainiac. backin forth between eras as brainiac is revealed as an evolving/escalting threat that superman defeats in our era.
( young actor cast as "superboy" will replace routh, who will retire and live like a kind in the bahamas)
7th film: 'soft' reboot. younger actor with superman in his prime.

After reading about how disappointed a lot of people were NOT to 'see' Welling in the suit in the Smallville finale, I think a LOT of people would pay to see Welling to do ANYTHING in the suit.

Superman/Clark Kent: Christopher Reeve. Nobody does it better. Makes me feel sad for the rest.
Lois Lane: Dana Delany. I broke the rules? you're damn right I did. You all know she would own it. I can't think of any Lois better and all she did was the voice. Right up there with Coates and Kidder IMO.
Jimmy Olsen: Jack Larson. It was cool when years ago Larson said he'd be proud to be Jimmy to Reeve's Superman at some event. Plus he'd the definitive Jimmy.
Perry White: Ed Asner. Yes he voiced Perry too..I REALLY want to see what he'd do with it in live action. How was Lou Grant NOT Perry White (besides being bald)?
Lex Luthor: Kevin Spacey. I'd give him another shot.
Jonathan Kent: Glenn Ford
Martha Kent: K Callan or a younger Eva Marie Saint. I'd have said O'Toole but it'd be weird because...
Lana Lang: Anette O'Toole. Perfect girl next door.
