Of course I like the backstory, but all this new origin stuff. Ugh.
New movie, new origin, a possible bombsheck, does anyone give a fuck?

The origin has only been done ONCE on a big scale - and that's in STM. Every other one has been limited by cheaper budgets on the smallscreen. Am I tired of the origin on cheap budgets? Definitely. Am I tired of it being done differently, bigger, and with many possibilities to lay the groundwork for supporting characters and events later on?
Not at all.... it's all in the execution. If you're ONLY going to tell the same five minutes (Jorel tells everyone Krypton is doomed/ they ignore him/ he sends the ship into space), it's taking a great opportunity to expand the universe and reducing it to being redundant story points told once again.
If, on the other hand, we see glimpses and a sense of what Krypton really was, and the other characters who get sent into the Phantom Zone as well/etc.--- it's a great goldmine of material that can pay off later in the film.
That is, if Krypton is the origin part we're talking about. The Smallville stuff could also be great, so long as it delivers something fresh characterwise and moves the story forward.

I never need to see a new one again, it's not necessary, but I give a heck of a damn about Superman's origins regardless.

If they give us something different, as CAM said, then I'm all for it. The ONLY thing that has never been fully explored in any live-action Superman medium is the wealth of backstory that Krypton provides. STM and S2 came close, but they're deeply flawed portrayals.
You give me a 30 minute Krypton sequence that lays the groundwork for Brainiac, Zod, The Phantom Zone, Argo City, Supergirl, Black Zero, Amalak, Kandor, and heck...even Doomsday, then yes, I want another Superman origin. Badly. In fact, I NEED it. Throw in a cameo by the Guardians and I'll weep with joy (fun fact: when I was a kid, I used to pretend that the big blue floating faces of the council during the trial scene were, in fact, the Guardians from Green Lantern. Still do, sometimes).
Otherwise, just give me page 1 of All Star Superman, which really says it all. In about ten words.

The STM version of Krypton is otherworldly and iconic, but it doesn't feel lived-in. It reminds me of Mt. Olympus in the original Clash of the Titans; it's a big, pretty place built by Gods. You can't imagine what life was like there when people weren't standing around in robes and having conversations. You don't necessarily need more than that if you're just using it as a launching point for Earth-based stories, but it could be interesting if they provide a more fleshed-out world that plays a larger role in the Snydergolanverse. Like Val and CAM said, there's plenty of backstory that could be set up there.

I'm there with you, Val. Geoff Johns has said that Green Lantern was never as great as when the book had ALL of the Green Lanterns as part of the stories. Similiarly, the thing that (sadly) the Donner films were never able to reach, were all the other cool things from the comics connected to Krypton.
Also agree with you there Shinymarble. "Thor"'s Asgard suffers from the same problem. Donner's Krypton was great for what was needed, but if we see Krypton again---- then it'd be nice to have it fully fleshed out and have the movies embrace Krypton and all the creative possibilities it has to offer storywise.

An extra thought...
If they don't show (much of) Krypton & start the film out from Pa & Ma Kent's point of view..... even though they could (arguably) do flashback to Krypton scenes in sequels, it may be harder to convince a studio to spend the money on a fully-realized Krypton then.
It's not impossible that they're going to do quick 'glimpses' of Krypton and duplicate Geoff Johns' scene in Secret Origin, where young Clark is briefly given a message from the spaceship in the Kent cellar.
Personally...
If they don't want to spend the money showing Krypton, then, geez, why not just go back and use the stock footage from the Superman Returns & the Donner films?
My two cents...

I was gonna vote no for another origin until I read Val's post.

I do, but not in the new film
Perhaps, extended flashback in a sequel ala Godfather II

CAM and Val said it all. IMO krypton must be kind of Asgard, a gods planet, where a lot of action take place as the foundation of the movie but with a felling of real people and more drama. it is not about the same history told over and over but HOW it is told. damn, the planet is about to explode, how can one skip that opening scene if it is going to be done right? in another hand, the godfather approach seems very cool...

Of course I give a damn about the fucking origin too, but I worded this shit all wrong thanks to inebriation.
I was trying to see how many people want a new origin, as opposed to people who don't see the need.

The MoS origin was crap. Krypton looked like Geonosis, but with a giant dragonfly Very true! And the Phantom Zone tentacles were a SoundWave rip off: Don’t forget Zod and his plan being a rehash of Bay’s Megatron and the Codex being a knockoff of the Allspark. Goyer lifted all that from the 2007 Transformers movie.
