Hey all, I'm hoping the collective brain power of this board (god help me....j/k) can help me figure this one out. I'm a mystery shopper here in Las Vegas and I recently did a shop for home theater seating by Elite. Great set of seats they provide by the way. Anyways, in their catalog, there is a custom home theater built as the bat cave....the Batman Symbol on the screen, light sconces, and teh whole room looks to be a cave.....looks awesome and I'll try to post the pics for that shortly....here's my question....Anyone know how/if it's possible to do the same thing in a room as the Fortress? Obviously see through crystal is too expensive, but perhaps a material that would look like the platforms from the original series that CR would stand on/use as steps. Something a little durable but resembles that material. Long story short I want to do a Fortress-theme Home Theater setup here and use the tops of the "crystals" as shelving for my Superman memorabilia. A tough feat, I know but I just want to know the costs and if it's possible. Thanks to anyone/everyone that can help Mavcon Found a picture of the Batcave version of a Home Theater online www.soundfood.net/2008/03/28/batman-themed-theater-bat-cave-will-cost-500000-plus/(Like I said...pricey for that one but just curious)

My concern about a "white" theatre is the reflection on the walls being a distraction

I would sculpt it out of bead foam, then coat it in a thin polycoat and paint... That would still be thousands of dollars worth of foam, and that's probably the cheapest way.
If money is no object, I would cast the pieces out of resin, so they are semi transparent. I'd frost them on the inside (spray with white paint so it diffuses light) and then you could light them from behind, so the crystals seem to glow from within when the room is lit, but it's all dimmable for when the movie starts.

Oh yeah I've soeen those home theaters people make. Some are Star Wars inspired, Star Trek, the Bat Cave, etc... I never even thought "Why didn't someone do it like the Fortress of Solitude?". If I ever become filthy rich, THAT'S how I'll do my home theater.

If money is no object, just have the construction crew put in real crystals.

Thanks for the help guys. And I thought of that earlier in terms of the glare from the "whiteness" of the material but I'm only going to make this about 6" deep and dark red curtains can cover up during movie (on a remote that will dim lights, retract curtains, and power it all up). And real crystals....well..if money were no object I wouldn't need advice LOL
