That's really cool..... I always assumed that the flybys for STM, SII, and SIII/SIV were ALL the exact same footage- not different takes of the same shot. Interesting!

I didn't know IV literally stole 1. I knew there were 4 takes; thought each take was used for each film.

The take from one is my favorite, but the making of is really nice and such a classic superman pose I wish it had been used in one of the movies.

The fact that these ARE different takes, brings two thoughts: #1: Probably these were shot all at the same time, under Donner during STM, as Donner was known for doing multiple takes. #2: WOULD or wouldn't Donner have chosen this as the signature finale? We know that Donner's opening credits most likely would have been the titles flying towards you, but for the end.... Who knows?

IV recycles the closing shot from STM. How appropriate. ;D

Interesting stuff.
To me, the final flyby is like the Bond gun barrel. You simply must have it, no matter who is Bond, no matter the decade, no matter the director. Some parts of a franchise just need to stay consistent to let people know what they're watching.

Agreed. But, I felt the same about the opening credits and John Williams' music, too.....

Be great had they cleaned up all of them as a special feature. I'm sure they'd have done at least one or two more!
