Oh man the kingdom come absolute is gorgeous. And the supp material is awesome. Very good stuff. Plus the absolutes are printed oversize by an inch in both directions.

They're pricey as heck. While I love to read graphic novels/comics from time to time, buying one for $50+ is my limit. I wish I was a collector, though. I saw a Watchmen 1995 print that goes into 5 digits. In my current situation, that's money I can use now. ;D

Amazon is a godsend. The norm is about $99 for these absolutes plus tax. Amazon I think have been about $60.
Down side: Because they're so big and so pricey, I find them read less often over other cheaper editions in the house. Irony.

Not a fan of the format. Expensive and heavy, they aren't meant to be read, they're meant to sit on a shelf and be admired.
I'll make one exception at some point, though. Absolute Crisis. Apparently the art really looks incredible in the oversized format, and Perez's art has never really reproduced quite right in the standard sizes.

When the artwork is gorgeous, and worthy of the price/money, then it's definitely worth every penny in my book. The problem is, they're not necessarily putting out the best art in these editions.
Another format I was digging was the DC archives--- but Levitz has said on record that those archives weren't making enough money for them.... pity. I would have loved to have seen the rest of the legion issues archived in this format.....
