Dumb article. Thor and Iron Man were financial successes, despite being B-characters in comparison to Spider-Man and Batman. If you sell it right, and you do a good job of casting the lead role, you could make millions off just about any character.
Booster Gold, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Summer 2014!

NEVER going to happen.
there was a time when "westerns" were a STAPLE on film and television. then there was an ebb to the mainstream popularity.
but westerns never 'left". musicals...musicals used to be a very common thing intheaters. not so much anymore. but they still pop up.
superheroes got mainstreamed- in spitye of all the shitty ones, because of S:TM, batman 89 and x-men. as long as one out of...three or four does good $$$ then the stuidos won't hang it up- and even when they fall out of fashion, the genre will still be there, on tv and film.

Correct.
I do think that this year and next year will be the "peak" in terms of sheer numbers of superhero flicks being released at once, and that may lead to some backlash, but they'll always be around. And I'm fine with that.
