So, as you know, I have one longbox the complete Superman titles from Man of Steel all the way up through Reign of The Supermen. 8 years of Superman comics in one longbox. It's kind of awesome. I've begun putting them in the proper reading order, which, believe it or not, there was one from even BEFORE they had the triangle numbers on the covers. Here is the first year or so worth...

The breaks are to indicate how I have them bagged. Each "set" is like a little mini-trade that completes a cycle.

as far as my comics go, the most organised of the lot is superman early 80's up till early 2000's.

anything mid-2000's or later is a mess. i dont even know what i have.
i wasnt reading anything, the post ressurection years were CRAP, it got good again when jeph loeb came in so i kept "pulling" books but i'd pick up a stack, label the bag "june'03" or "feb '04" and throw it in a box.
i kept up with superman with TPB's untill i got out of comcis altogether.
i would need an entire day and some new long boxes to get it together.

but, as i'm "in" to comics again (mostly going back for old stuff i missed and bronze era stuff) i might just do that.

updated/corrected the list/timeline. So far, so good! Need to figure out where Superman Annual #2 and Adventures Annual #2 fit in all of this.

I'll stop once we get to the actual triangle stuff, as then it becomes self-evident. Pretty much from here on out, with one or two little exceptions, storylines run in this order...Superman/Adventures/Action

and then I believe it becomes:
MoS/Superman/Adventures/Action

Not sure that the Superman books were ever as consistently good for a sustained period of time during my lifetime.

well, maverick and i were going through boxesof stuff in the garage and only half of my comics are organised at all.

so, my goal for the next few weeks is to aquire some proper long boxes (too many of my book sare in plain card board) and assorted numerically.

it's actually fun doing stuff like that.

favorite arcs from this era:


'brainiac trilogy" a 3-prter that establishes the "New" version of brainiac as a real menace. it took a while to get the brainiac character figured out and here he's a telepathic green skinned alien.

"panic in the sky" big-ass follow-up to brainiac trilogy.
could have been a company wide crossover given that every DC character is in it!

"EXILE" / "origin eradicator" / "warworld"

good goddammit. if ever a comic book arc deserved to be built into a film series it's this!
a slightly deranged superman leaves earth and gradually fades in power. MAJOR revelation about krypton. first post-crisis "mongul" and the eradicator! if ever there was an arc with lasting consequences it is the origin of the eradicator!

really good. not as "EPIC" as those others but very cool. lois and clark are engaged, lois finds out !! superman is powerless and experiments with exo-skeleton armor.
