Hand touching his head in pain? ;D Not to often you hear that complaint. He did seem to have that reaction every time he was around Kryptonite. Very Shatnerian that just looks like he's having a headache. Cain should've went with whole body writhing in pain. That would've sold the idea how lethal kryptonite is. Just look at Reeve's SIII kryptonite ray scene ahhh....missed those times where villains get to monologue. Shea got to do that in the early few episodes of Season 1. You can hardly see that nowadays

God, I fucking hated it when he did that. Awful over-acting. Alec Guinness hated the fact he made this type of gesture when he felt the planet Alderaan had blown up.
I was concious of seeing how Reeve and Reeves reacted around Kryptonite after seeing Cain do this; superior actors they both were, none of them do this hammy gesture.

Reeve and Reeves just had a general sickness. Weakness. Not any kind of specific pain. Reeve really did look like he was ill in STM so that always impressed me. If ones not too careful it can become dramatic overacting I suppose.
I thought Routh handled the reaction to Kryptonite pretty well. So did Welling. I'd say Cain was the worst offender but its never something I paid a lot of attention too.

I need to hit up youtube and watch That Green Green Glow of Home. Trask was one of the best villains that show ever had. probably one of the best episodes of the entire series. Some of Cains best work too. Didn't really even NEED Superman to make an appearance.
That Panic in The Sky remake from season one....terrible. Highlighted how much better than Cain George Reeves was since Cain is in the George Reeves camp of portrayals. I remember to try and get him to fly they threw Clark off a roof and into a bunch of dumpsters and stuff.

Interesting point about the Lex/Lois relationship. However, he WAS being written that way in the comics at the time, so it made sense that this show transferred that over. The difference is, the post-Man Of Steel comic version of Lex was a bald, middle-aged, lard-ass. Shea is debonaire, charming, handsome, etc. I could buy that Lex loved Lois on L&C. I had a little bit of trouble with Lois' feelings for him. Never quite bought that. And Clark straight up calls Lois a whore like TWICE in these episodes because of the Luthor thing. It's kind of hilarious! i recall an interview at the time, shea was asked why he wasn't bald in the show- "... luthor is a billionaire....i'm sure he can afford some hair..." L&C had a very good luthor and perry, thats for sure.

Alot of the cast were actually good.
Hatchers probably about the best Lois Lane ive seen.
Lane Smith was fantastic as Perry
John Shea was brilliant as Luthor, at least I thought so anyway. I'm surprised hes never really done anything big in his career because I think hes a great actor.
But yeh, Cains superman in general is nasty. The kryptonite thing is pretty poor stuff. His voice is generally too high and whiny when hes playing Superman too.
Like I said I really liked his Clark, but I can't go that version of Superman, theres also a sort of smugness that radiates from Superman at times in that show.

Oh, you know what I hate in the season one finale?
The way Cain says 'Bars won't hold me Luthor' as the Kryptonite starts to take effect. Horribly delivered.
But like I said, I dont want to knock Cain because hes fucking brilliant as Clark. There was fantastic chemistry between Cain and Hatcher.
