www.youtube.com/watch?v=upfqG9stj-gApologies if already posted earlier, but I was impressed. Gave me chills, and it works surprisingly well without the Williams theme... maybe because it is such a fresh take.

I liked it. I liked it.
(Why does Jor-El say the only way to hurt Superman is to hurt the people he cares for? What about kryptonite?)

replace or remove otis, flesh out luthor with just a little more menace and I really think you'd have a hallmark film in many people's top 20 lists... with or without the time reversal ending.
i love otis, his scenes are funny to a point, but it makes the film uneven to a fault. for all of Donner's efforts to obtain verisimilitude, I think they were either under too much pressure to stay familiar with the comic book archetype... or really thought that 1970s audiences would reject a fully fleshed out villain not played for laughs. There's no question Hackman could have delivered so much more on that front if they were willing to tap into it. As it is we just see glimpses. I think he did an amazing job with the material he was given.
I've wondered if there was a way to trim back some of Otis' dialogue but then I realize he really took up a lot of screen time in key scenes.

The chap who made that trailer has done trailers for all the Superman films. The best one in my opinion is the Superman III trailer.

Very impressive. His Empire Strikes Back trailer is fucking AWESOME. Uses the trailer music from that good Star Trek '09 trailer.

I liked it. I liked it. (Why does Jor-El say the only way to hurt Superman is to hurt the people he cares for? What about kryptonite?) This is from the extended cut. He's explaining to Superman that he has to hide his powers (hence, Clark Kent). Jor-El didn't know about Kryptonite.

Jor-El didn't know about Kryptonite. I thought Jor-El was supposed to have all the scientific knowledge and facts from dozens of worlds, spanning the 28 known galaxies etc. etc. etc. And with all this accumulated knowledge, he still doesn't know that kryptonite is deadly? (To him)?
