Thought this might warrant its own thread, but please feel free to merge with SR if needed.
Anyway, has anyone seen this yet?
It has been getting a lot of positive attention and publicity. Much more than your run of the mill fan cuts.
It's almost like the "Selutron" of Superman Returns. I would like to hear thaughts and reviews.
Please.

If this is the guy that's about to release his "Man of Tomorrow" fan cut of SR on the fan edit site, then I've been *somewhat* following it. I put in a few small thoughts of my own, but I'm gonna wait until it's finished and been reviewed enough before I decide whether or not to see it. Because IMO, fixing the color, removing the kid from being his son, even removing more of the campy humor from Kevin Spacey is simply not enough to save this movie for me.
Brandon Routh looks like a big kid wearing a Halloween costume (his acting was fine though). Kate Bosworth belongs in stupid romantic comedies (as well as a restaurant. That poor girl looks skinnier every time I see her). The story was weak. The Jesus references made me nearly walk out when I saw it. The special effects aren't as good as the Reeve films (IMO). The film is way too long. And of course my biggest gripe: The film can't decide if it's a sequel, a reboot, or a remake. And by the looks of it, Singer and WB couldn't figure it out either.

Wait...this guy's cut's intention is to remove the brat from Superman continuity? I may have to check this out.
Now, if they can only rotoscope Bosworthless out of the picture...

Wait a sec, the colors are brighter in this fan cut? Or are you talking about "The Man Of Tomorrow" cut? honestly, man, I'm just as confused as you are now. All I know is there's *like* 3 fan-cuts of SR, and I *believe* 2 more that are in the works.

I thought the kid was brilliantly done- but this does make me curious... how DOES the movie play if you subtract Jason? It's the big payoff at the end. So, Lois sees Supes in the hospital bed, (or maybe never visits him), leans over to him, says something, and then at the end, everything is fine- and he says that he'll always be around?
Can't imagine that just seeming weird. If you subtracted him from the screenplay, and it's just Lois making a choice between going back to Supes or sticking with Richard--- it doesn't carry the same weight, versus Lois making a choice of going back to Supes versus destroying a family life that she started with Richard & Jason- (on the surface).
But, the whole fan cut thing has a mixed effect- Even though it's been around now for awhile, still shocked now and then that it's definitely a whole new era where fans can't just TALK about changing things in movies, now, (for the most part), they CAN--- and it sometimes IS better!

CAM, he isn't removing the kid from the film. Just the plot point that he's Superman's son. Though either way, you're right about the ending not making any sense.

Perhaps it is edited in a way that it seems she tells him she loves him.

I am watching this as I type. I think it's fantastic so far. Really digging the editing choices and all the scenes that have been added in have really helped flesh out the story.
Some things have been dropped as well, which has only improved the pace IMO. I'm very interested to see how the ending plays out.

EH, I dig Superman Returns anyways. So, I have no desire to see this. I dig Superman Returns as well, but as someone who recognizes the pacing and editing as being two of the film's main issues, I have to say this was pretty damn fantastic. I won't go into spoilers but I think I should tell anyone who wants to see this to be aware that Jason is still Superman's son in this edit. Which is fine by me.

This was an interesting cut -
SPOILERS ABOUT THE CUT CONTAINED BELOW
Things I didn't like - some of Jor-El's monologue was cut - this took quite a bit away form the whole "The Son becomes the Father" spiel and I really didn't find it necessary. I can see the argument for the change - instead we hear dialogue that appeared earlier in the film between Martha and Clark. It drives home that the Kents were Superman's true parents, much like Richard and Lois are Jason's true parents. However, it diminishes the role of both Jor-El and Kal-El as a guide in their child's life.
Things I liked
- Return to Krypton is right where it belongs. We start Superman Returns with Superman rather than Luthor swindling an old lady.
-The dialogue cut right after Luthor says "Tell me everything" - the way he said "starting with crystals" always seemed like an awkward delivery to me, the editor must have felt the same way, because he cut that out.
-The cgi shirt rip is gone - mixed feelings here because Superman's shirt rip is such an iconic image, but the Superman logo was CGI'd in and looked awkward. Now we just see Clark running and ABOUT TO rip his shirt open.
