WOW this video must be from the early 80s, its incredible. Ive seen some of the new concerts with Williams conducting the theme but this one has so much energy and is so epic!

Excellent.
This probably marks the 100,000th time I've heard this theme in my lifetime.

Awesome- thanks for posting this--- it's so different to see all the musicians playing this theme and to see Williams conducting each bit of it.
At the same time- it makes me more than a bit sad that WB doesn't want to cough up money to ask Williams to reinvent his own Superman theme for the new movie (in the way that Williams sort-of reinvented/added onto his Star Wars themes for the prequels)!
As much as I enjoyed the Ottman tribute in SR (and I liked it a LOT), nothing would beat having Williams return to the character himself. Oh well....

After Revenge of the Sith and Indy IV, I'd be up for new blood re-interpreting his themes. Courage did a stellar job; no reason it can't happen again

Man, I love watching these, seeing the music come alive with everyone playing their instruments. This was probably the BEST live concert version of the theme by Williams I've seen.
I would love for someone to produce a John Williams at the Movies Concert on Blu-Ray, these concerts in Hi-Def, to hear all his famous movie themes come alive like that would be awesome.

I dug Revenge of the Sith's themes.... but I'll agree that Indy IV's score had nothing fresh there to write home about.

Oh well.... we all recall the anecdote that williams, who adored donner, spent five minutes with lester and they just rubbed the wrong way and williams walked.... looking back at some of the dvd features williams seemed very fond of the project, and was perfectly happy that his themes were used in later films. he ALSO said he didn't think another superman movie would ever approach the quality of S:TM. even IF snyder, nolan and WB were interested in having him i doubt he'd want to. he'd probably be fine with using bit's of main theme here and there (which a LOT of us hope for) but it's a whole different animal than the star wars/INDY franchises. with INDY and star wars he started working with lucas and spielberg, and they STAYED with the series and so going back was an amicable experience for him, plus ALL the star wars movie and ALL the INDY (yes, jim, all three) (yes belloq, all four) movies are part of the same series. MOS is not even a "vague" part of donnerverse.
